Mrsryan I was just thinking the same thing. My OH is not romantic at all, in fact I'm depressed now reading this thread, I hadn't realised how unromantic he was.

He used to write me poems :o

Now we're married... he'll make me a cuppa sometimes (I love it best when he makes the first cuppa in the morning).

But when it rains at night, he'll always move over to give me a cuddle.

I got red roses and chocolates for our anniversary.

He always says thank you for the dinner I cook (even if it's a bit bleurg).

And he cleans the bathroom, including the bath and the loo, nearly every week!

And he makes me go to the doctor if I'm ill (I'm tend to wait a few days to see if I feel worse!).

  • i tend to get little things fro mrs flybynight, but i think if you want to impress your other half you need these intructions

    How to impress a woman

Wine her, Dine her, Call her, Cuddle her,
Hold her, Surprise her, Compliment her,
Smile at her, Laugh with her,
Cry with her, Shop with her, Give her jewelry,
Buy her flowers, Hold her hand,
    Write love letters to her,
Go to the end of the earth and back for her.

    How to Impress a Man
    Show up naked.
    Bring beer.

  • One day I was working late and dreading going home to a mess (I'd just got a new bathroom and it wasn't all cleaned). Got home to discover BH was there and had cleaned the bathroom, built the bathroom storage unit and had lit candles and run me a big hot bubble bath...oh and a glass of my favourite white wine was sitting on the side of the bath. Bliss!!!

  • Funnily enough my mum and I had been talking about this yesterday - basically one of my best friends just got engaged in Mexico whilst swimming with dolphins. The ring was in a clear waterproof box, attached to a ring which the dolphin was playing with, which is pretty much the most romantic proposal I've ever heard!!

My OH (H2B in 10 days!!) is romantic in his own little ways though - he always makes me a cup of tea first thing in the morning and just before bed despite not drinking tea himself. Always comments on how nice I look, and if he ever wakes up in the night and I stir he checks I'm alright. He bought me a Slanket (basically a blanket with sleeves) for this birthday cos I once said what a good idea they were and always get chilly in winter, and a subscription to Pick Me Up last year so I've always got something to read. He emails me from work pretty much everyday, says how nice whatever tea I've cooked is, carries my bags, goes to check out any spooky noises in the night, scratches my back and even tried curry for the first time despite a mortal fear of unusual foods because he knew how much I love going out for an Indian! Bless him

Ooh and although neither of us drive, if I have to get the bus from work in the dark he comes and meets me at the bus stop so I don't have to walk back alone.

    Not showing off.... honest!

Sorry to upset anyone. I know it's not nice when your own situation suddenly doesn't look so rosy (been there).

I think flybynight's is probably right :) although mr 999 does enjoy a footrub. I meanwhile, have an irrational loathing of feet, particularly un-socked ones, so he knows if I consent to rub them that I'm being as nice as I could possibly be.
  • hmmm, mrs flybynight sitting through nearly 2 hrs of rugby in the cold with no idea what was going on coz she knows i liek it was pretty impressive

My oh isn't that romantic, but when I was having treatment for cancer some years ago I was upset in case I completely lost my hair during the treatment and he said 'well, if that happens, we shall be bald together, as I shall shave my hair off'. He never had to because I was lucky and kept most of my hair, but it's something I've never forgotten and I loved him for it.
