I'm going to use Howdens for carcasses, doors and handles as they are having a 10% sale on at the moment and my mate gets 60% off the full RRP anyway.

Where is the best place for worktops, sinks and appliances?

    Many thanks

He needs to haggle then because I get at least 70% off everything, often more. If you look at the original prices, that extra 10% is easily £50 per unit.

Wickes, definitely. Got quite a sizeable oak kitchen , solid oak tops, half price washing machine and free under worktop DVD/TV for uner £3,000. Love it.

When you say sizable how many units is that? I have just had a quote for an oak kitchen for around £7000 from Wickes with no appliances other than small fridge.
  • Do not use Ikea of you want a stree free kitchen, you really do get what you pay for. The "designers" don't check the designs properly so I got a tall unit where the carcass is 5cms smaller than all the pieces to go in it. The longest worktop they do is 2.4m and they don't tell you this so I have two runs that will no wneed 2 worktops each! they put stuff on back order and then don't ship it as they don't tell you to pay for it in store, they tell you units are being discontinued which aren't and once you have parted with your money can be verbally abusive.

German? Ha ha ha ha ha

If you buy from Kutchenhaus, you are basically buying an MFI kitchen. The only reason they are "german" is that Nobilia (not to be confused with Nobia, who are a very good company) bought the company who supplied MFI.

They are NOT to be compared to proper German kitchen manufacturers like RWK, Poggenpohl, Miele, Hacker etc etc...

Sorry, this information is incorrect. Nobilia are the largest manufacturer of kitchens in Europe (see their website). They decided to place their kitchens into MFI stores as there were so many nationwide. Unfortunately it was a good idea, but too late to save them. I have fitted kitchens from many different suppliers, and these are hands down the best in terms of quality, packaging etc. They're a fitter's dream!

Kuchenhaus sell only Nobilia kitchens - but unfortunately for the public, at an over-inflated price! I used to sell Nobilia kitchens from an MFI store, and we had to spend the first 10 minutes with a customer explaining how much better the quality of the furniture was to the current MFI ranges!

Going down the Oteley Road to see the Shrewsbury aces! :T
  • I also had a B&Q kitchen and it fell apart after a year or so. Similar for bathroom suit. Taps drip, shower door bearings rusted up, toilet doesn't flush anymore, toilet seat hinges broke.

I can't bring myself to talk about the kitchen!
