After looking for about a year for ours :( We got a quote from a local carpenter. He came out much the same as Magnet but we got the kitchen fitted exactly how we chose, no gaps or the same old cupboards; he made up little box drawers, 2 Lincolnshire dressers either side of patio doors and lots of little special bits and pieces and hand painted it for us. Worthwhile you getting a quote from a couple of carpenters for a unique kitchen.

    I've been Money Tipped!
My ex neighbour was a kitchen fitter. He only ever used Ikea.

My hubby is a carpenter too. He makes bespoke kitchens for people but also really rates Howdens.

One thing to be wary of - if you buy from B&Q it will probably cost you the same again to have their fitters in.

Could anyone be brave enough to put a price on buying and fitting a kitchen please? I have no idea of how much to budget for.

I realise that quality and quantity are vital factors but I just need a ball park figure for, say 9 units, appliances and fitting.

    cheers
Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.
That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
  • We're looking at getting a new kitchen and our builder uses benchmarx. They are owned by Travis Perkins, who also own Wickes. The kitchens are the same as Wickes but they come ready built and have a 25 year guarantee. Also they are cheaper than Wickes. They will price match internet prices for appliances. Downside is they only deal with trade.
  • OH is a carpenter and has fitted allsorts from ikea to £35k+ bespoke - You need a reasonable fitter for IKEA apparently are there are no 'service gaps' down the back for wiring/plumbing apparently - the last4 he's done tho are from wren kitchens (also based in howden) - He's reckons they are the best quality of any of those you've listed, and they come built up

  • My Wickes kitchen is coming on Saturday - so excited! I had out B&Q, Wickes, Howdens, a couple of independent firms, Kitchens Direct and also went to Ikea. Wickes won for me, quality was really good. Guy in store who came out and did design was really honest and upfront about things (no hard sell). I was really impressed with the quality and they have been really good with changing delivery dates. Had a text yesterday confirming delivery between 7am and 10am Saurday! Hope they don't come at 7am!!!!!!

Try Kutchenhaus - german pre-built (not flatpack) kitchens. Based on Trafford centre and you get some good sales.

German? Ha ha ha ha ha

If you buy from Kutchenhaus, you are basically buying an MFI kitchen. The only reason they are "german" is that Nobilia (not to be confused with Nobia, who are a very good company) bought the company who supplied MFI.

They are NOT to be compared to proper German kitchen manufacturers like RWK, Poggenpohl, Miele, Hacker etc etc...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Anywhere between £2,500 and £250,000 for a fully installed kitchen...
