The player was definately on sale at £84.97 today - as I was looking at the display, someone dismantled the whole display and took it away so the price is no longer visable.

As someone mentioned in this thread earlier, the silver ones come in a purple box, I tried to get one today, they only had the silver ones and it scanned at £199.
She told me there will be a new range tomorrow, probably why they are off loading all the purple ones.

hi peeps, esp inner Londoners, the tesco metro just opposite the L'pool St. Station has some of these players in stock.

I didn't actually buy a set, but i scanned one of the empty representative boxes at the self-checkout machines and the price showed up as £84.97....hopefully it will work for MSE-ers who r actually looking to buy the product.

No, but I know a couple of places in the Midlands that don't stock them for you to eliminate!

None in Dudley Tesco, and I had the only unit on the clearance display in Kidderminster after nearly giving up hope of finding one, found it in an obscure location, listed as clearance price of £169.97 on shelf, customer services scanned it through as £84.97, fantastic present for my wife's upcoming b'day this weekend.

For all those looking for these, and getting confused about the colour, as stated all boxes are purple (very similar to Cadbury Wrapper colour), they do have a sticker on the side of the box telling you the actual item colour, and it is only the ones marked as Violet that are reduced. Great player & great build quality for the money. Thanks to the original poster for the heads up on this deal.

checked my local today. Nothing. I later discovered the reduced to clear electrical section and nothing there either =(

I will be going out later and ill stop off at another tesco, hopefully they have one there. The nearest "super store" is a good 30 min drive to, and i really cant be bothered going there.

Went to the Liverpool street station metro earlier today. Scanned in at £84.97 but they had no purple ones left only silver and black which costs £199.99. Anyone know any Tesco's in London stocking these?

I cant get one anywhere and spoke at length to customer services who were most unhelpful! They said it wasn't a national offer - only a handful of selected stores had them at that price. Really fed up now, because there are more than 'a handful' of stores mentioned on here! Really really been wanting one for ages, but couldnt afford one at their original price.....doh!

If anyone has a spare one, I'd gladly take it off your hands (plus P&P of course!)

Called the following stores today:

Telford Extra - Only black @ £199
Wrexham Extra - None
Longton Stoke - Only black @ £199, said that they were "new in" today to replace the old model???
Stafford Extra - Again black @ £199.
