Apologies if this has already been posted or is in the wrong place....

You can get the above mp3 player in Tesco for £99.97! Seems like a really good deal to me!

Not sure why it's so cheap though, perhaps it's going to be replaced?

By all accounts the accompanying software is rubbish which can be a problem with something like this. However the unit itself generally got good reviews so if it is indeed available at £99 then it's a bargain.

Not sure where you read that but the Sony players have been suporting MP3 since the HD3 then the HD5 and now the a1000 and a3000. The HD1 will also suport mp3 if you send your player to Sony who will upgrade the firmware witht he same software as the HD3 for £15.

Yeah the software isnt the best but the connect software does everything iTunes does and you can use the older sonic stage software to have more control of the file organisation on your pc.

£100 for a 20GB mp3 player made by sony that looks stunning if I didnt have an HD5 I would buy one, they are a smart looking peice of kit I bought one for my sister for christmas paid £200 and it was well worth it then.

I concur with the above. I have a silver NW-A1000, great to look at, 6GB and so far no problems with the software.

I got one of these for my wife as a mothers day gift (I've got the older HD3) She's used it almost every day and I've just had to recharge it yesterday!! the battery life is fantastic!! I use the last version of Sonic Stage on both players without a problem.. at £99 I had to nip down to my local Mr T's and get one for my daughters birthday gift next month.. The only grip I have is you don't get a case in the box, however Sony do a purpose made pouch which you can get for around £5 off the web.. Just to add thet also had a 3gb Archos going for £49..

    It's £160 in PC World (collect@store).

The software (SonicStage) does get a bit of a slagging, but I've been using it for some time with an Aiwa NetMD player and it's not really that bad. Biggest problem is that the 'native' mode is ATRAC not MP3 so you end up with an ATRAC to MP3 conversion if you don't have a Sony or Aiwa player. Dunno what happens if your originals are MP3 - probably Ok if it keeps them as MP3, although possibly a waste buying a Sony player in that case.

However, I find that ATRAC sounds better than MP3 at the same compression ratio (your ears may vary...), probably makes the 20Gb Sony similar to 30Gb MP3 players (if you have the same ears!).

ATRAC has the worst quality out of all the lossy formats and Sony has the worst software out of all MP3 players. Stay away.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????
