Isn't the 40gb iPod Refurb for £117 delivered from the Apple Refurb Store a better deal, anyway (and still in stock)? I bought a refurbed ipod from Apple Store a while ago and it was brand new.

Went to see if they had another one (last one was present...and it looked so nice though I'd get one for myself) this am as I'd read they had dropped the price...still had the dvd box displaying violet on display so took to checkout where the chap took out a box and it scanned at £199.97...I told him that it was the wrong one as I'd seen on the box it was black and it was the violet one I wanted which was £84.97 which was what was on offer...he looked through what they had (silver and black) then went to the display and read the info...I again told him it was for the violet one on offer....then he went to see his supervisor....She had a worried look on her face...I think she assumed it was scanning higher than Shelf Edge Lable and I could argue Refund and Retain....so she told the person to scan the case which showed the price at £84.97 and then asked me if the black one would be acceptable...I pondered for what seemed like nano seconds before saying ok.

Best bit about this was I had told them the violet one was the one on offer and they could have said non available but to my luck they offered me the black on at the same price .....annoying bit is, I payed £15.00 more for one on Saturday

Got a purple 20GB one this evening from Ipswich Extra for £84.97 (although the sales guy had to check with his manager before he'd sell it to me for that price).

I,m confused by this deal. I went to a north east Tesco today and took the "purple" empty box to the till. Assistent went and got a boxed one "purple" and it scanned at £199. Shelf edge was saying discontinued but had no price on it. She checked with the manager and said that there was no way it would be sold for £99 even if it was discontinued. She seemed very suspicious and asked where i had got the information from that it was reduced,I said a website and she then said that whoever had marked discontinued on the shelf was not one of her staff as she knew their handwriting!! All very strange,they had them in purple but at £199.Any idea why ?
