Hear hear Rebekah! I just wanted to comment on it being "too high"...if it's comfortable, don't worry about the height. Some of us have found that keeping it lower is better, in order to avoid leaks.

May I suggest that actually you try practising whilst you aren't on? It's actually much easier, especially as you'll find you 'open up' in the middle of your cycle.

    Good luck!

As promised I've been in contact with Su at Mooncup regarding the sizing issues and she said they don't have a plan to make alternative sizes in the immediate future, but they will continue to monitor customer feedback in this area. So please continue to let Mooncup themselves know your feelings on this matter if you are one of those wanting a smaller size.

I also asked about the problem with "The Keeper" stealing Mooncup's copyright and name in the US and she said that they are in ongoing negotiation, but it is a very slow process they're afraid.

    I hope that this helps!

PS sorry about the odd fonts, but editing isn't changing it. Weird!

Just posting to make a couple of observations on my 'first' mooncup period in case it helps anyone.

Usually 'Aunt Flo' stays at least five days:
the first two being really heavy (so much so that I sometimes have to sleep on a towel in case the nighttime pad couldn't cope (flooding more a problem when I sat up iykwim) , I have serious cramps and usually take ibruprofen at least two nights before bed - and I HATE taking tablets of any kind:o . Pads needed changing every couple of hours, always felt YUK and moody.
days three to five flow is lighter but still very evident.

    Mooncup period:
    Only lasted three days:confused:
Nowhere near as heavy as normal, hardly any period pain at all, felt a lot 'cleaner', no leaks, nowhere near as 'moody'. :j
Was 'aware' of the cup more on the first day but by the second day I wouldn't have known I had it in.

Must admit I was a bit sceptical beforehand, even though my friend (who I originally told about mooncup and got it before me:o ) raved about it and said how good it was, etc. Really glad I took the plunge -just hope that next month is as easy.

That's brilliant news. I'm so very glad that you weren't disappointed! Did you say you'd completely trimmed off your stem? If not, take off a little more, and then there will be absolutely no awareness of it at all. :T Hurrah for your wonderful friend!

No I haven't lost all the stem yet(although I think I may be heading in that direction;) ).

When I said 'aware' it was more the rim - not painful, more a 'slight pressure' - did wonder whether that helped the period as a sort of 'acupressure point':D

Who'd have though Martin Lewis would post something that would change my period so much?!

I ordered a mooncup after reading all the positive comments after his email in September - £20 is worth risking if all that was raved about was true!

I'm SO pleased with it. I've only used it for a day, but its easy to get in (which surprised me!), easyish to get out, although I'm expecting it'll get easier with practice. I've had no leaks at all which is a HUGE bonus for me!

I've had to get more up close and personal with my period than I was used to, and it is a bit gross, but it feels so much healthier to me. I feel less bunged up than I did using a tampon.

I'm not sure what I'll do when I'm out of the house - I'm definitely happier sat on a toilet next to a sink - I can see public toilets would be trickier. And I have the urge to keep disinfecting the sink after I've rinsed it! But thats okay!

I love it and I feel disappointed that I haven't had on of these for the last 20 years! Can't wait to spread the word!

    Thanks Martin!

I found that by getting "up close and personal" with my period it's made it much easier to bear, I don't mind it anymore whereas I used to dread it! You might think that seeing all that blood would be really unpleasant but actually because it's all contained so neatly in the cup I quite like tipping it away  "bye bye icky stuff!"

I have discovered via the internet (you can find out far too much on the internet sometimes) that some ladies have found 'uses' for their blood, but personally I do think that's taking it too far!

If you need to empty it when you're out (which shouldn't be as often as a tampon because it can hold way more) then look out for a disabled toilet, they have sinks in them, or if there isn't one around (try explaining to the lady who guards the toilets at Waterloo that you need to use the disabled one - that was embarrassing :o ) you can do a pretty good job of cleaning it just with toilet paper.

Some ladies carry water bottles to take into public loos with them but I haven't worked out that one yet - where do you sit/stand while rinsing it, how do you prevent accidents? I've only had one disaster with it and that was on a train in Italy - no paper and the water for the sink didn't work. I probably should have checked first or carried more than one tissue in my handbag
:heart2: Give blood. :female: Use a mooncup.
But ensure the two are not connected!

when out and about, i either take a few baby wipes, or a little spray bottle of water and some tissues.

im not too worried about putting the mooncup back in unwashed, its more for cleaning my hands, before leaving the cubicle!
