Thanks for that
I do find it hard to relax and I reckon that is where I am going wrong. I have issues with smears and fainted once having cervical biopsies done so I think I automatically tense up and then panic. I'll give it another go and see how I get on.
Thanks for the advice and help.

How many different types of ways of putting it in are there? I've only been trying the standard one that comes in the instructions.
How do you do it on the loo? Do you open wide? Or hover or what?:oilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0 -
[QUOTE=I_also_just_wanted_to_clarify_after_what_I_last_said_-_take_it_out_to_cut_off_the_stem![/QUOTE]
DEFINATELY! I remember a thread on the Bounty forum that a lady had cut the stem off while still wearing the mooncup! She did cut herself. owch
As for methods of insertion, I find it difficult putting it in standing. Sitting on the loo is best for me.Nuts just take up space where chocolate ought to be.0 -

There is also the risk of spillage when moving off the toilet and to the sink area? Some poorly paid mug has to clean that up.
What are you going to do with it after you get up off the toilet, put it on the cistern while you pull your panties up or something.
Whatever though, imho washing these things out in public facilities is filthy and disgusting.
Maybe some budding engineer could create a piece of equipment or machinery which would be connected to the drains, with a water and electricity supply, and placed on the wall, like a hand dryer or towl dispenser which actually washes these things hygenically for a small payment, say 50p or £1.00 a time.
Failing that, opening the bin that ruthiejane kindly mentioned will often lead to being able to find a real towel, thats free and hardly used. Now, thats TRUE moneysaving. Incidently ruthiejane, that bin that you mention has a special mixture of detergents, anti-bacterial cleaner, and bleach. Something no regular sink has. (brother used to drive a tammy-wagon for PHS)
There is a risk that a tampon or towel user could also spill some when they move it to the bin, and have blood on their hands and cross contaminate the handle to the san bin. The bins in public toilets usually stink.
They could also leave traces of blood on the toilet seat or floor
A lot of mooncup users actually take a small bottle of water with them to rinse it straight into the toilet.
Incidentally where are sanitary towels provided for free?0 -
He means by opening the SP bin in the cubicle and looking for a hardly used towel.punkstoner wrote:Failing that, opening the bin that ruthiejane kindly mentioned will often lead to being able to find a real towel, thats free and hardly used. Now, thats TRUE moneysaving
Please, don't encourage troll-boy, he's obviously getting some sort of odd kicks by posting in this thread. Weirdo.0 -

There's several ways demonstrated by this wonderful link http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/453392.html The punch down fold is by far the easiest as it is simple to hold and makes the cup really small. However it is better if you twirl the cup once it's in rather than letting it open by itself.
Regarding the loo, I just sit on the loo normally but open my legs and reach between them. You have to be a little careful with your grip though! :rolleyes:I'm free from tampons - another Mooncup Convert!

Hi there
Apologies if anything like this has been posted before, have just found the thread and in my enthusiasm have posted without reading every post in depth.
I got a mooncup a couple of months ago and have no problem getting it in. What I have is a problem getting it our without passing out! It takes me ages and hurts a lot and therefore there is no way I could even contemplate using it in public.
I must admit i gave up after a month and have felt like a total failure so any advice you could give would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Emma
Hi Emma
Please don't feel like a failure. Mooncups are like lots of things - some people get the hang of them instantly, some take time to get used to them. It took me a couple of months to get used to mine, but it was worth the perseverance. There are a lots of factors to consider such as your age, your experience with putting anything inside your vagina, whether you are sexually active, whether you have had a baby etc. Most people can use a Mooncup eventually but it make take time. If you would like to PM me I can pass on my phone number to you to see if we can get to the bottom of what your particular difficulties are. I've been a Mooncup reseller for a number of years now and have been able to help most women.
All the best

Ok just tried the punch down fold. Got it in! Although I just about had the base in. I stood up wiggled around, jumped up and down, twisted the cup stuck finger up and ran round the sides although I couldn't reach the front nearly killed myself with my nails LOL :rotfl: But still couldn't get it to open. Not convinced I had it high enough? Should it be up a bit higher than the base being just in although it did move up a little bit by itself. Couldn't undo so took it and dropped a bit of blood on the bathroom floor carpet - oops! So just cleaned that lol. I'm feeling slightly more optimistic now. I shall try one last time tomorrow and then abandon until next monthly cycle.0 -
punkstoner wrote: »And rightly so. Like I said in my first post, rags and old newspapers will suffice.
Or, more reasonably, several sheets of toilet roll, folded like a towel.
OLD newspapers? Gosh, they could have been anywhere! Hate to think what they might have on them.
And the newsprint would just get all over everything :rolleyes:0 -

Well done on getting a step forward! That's excellent! Now you really need to trim that end or it's going to make you uncomfortable! Higher might help, but only you can know for sure. :TI'm free from tampons - another Mooncup Convert!
