Another mooncup lover here, been using mine since last summer and it has never let me down, it takes a bit of getting used to at first but once mastered, it seems silly to use anything else. You should practice a bit before you have your first period, make sure you are nice and relaxed, perhaps after a bath or shower. IF you are worried about the size of the cup (I was, I though it looked huge) don't be, they are the same size as a ermm, man's end and that fits ok!!
One tip, when you practice before your period, don't put too much KY jelly on it or you are likely to make too slippery, it fly out of your hands and it land on your rather suprised looking cat.0 -

Mine went bouching around the cubicle at work like it was an elasticated yo-yo:rotfl: I firmly suggest putting the KY jelly on yourself, not the mooncup:D
I used a combination of mooncup & washable pads & I love both. I haven't used the mooncup since I gave birth, just haven't felt like it so have stuck with washable pads for now which I find fab ( I just wash along with nappies so no trouble for me), I think I need to get a slightly different shaped post-birth mooncup now & just haven't got around to it. But when I was using it before I got preggers, I found it very comfortable & no leakages.Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
I removed mine once one-handed, and it sprayed round and hit our white cat - he was NOT amused when I had to wash him in the sink. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

not for the cat thoughSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
Do you think it would be better with some kind of string on the end of it like a tampax? I havn't tried one yet but it seems to be the case.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

It does have a rubber stem; some people trim these down but I never did - it never bothered me, and I definitely needed to pull on it to get the darn thing out. But I'd really recommend them for those interested. I've stopped menstruating now so I shall have a ceremonial throwing away of supplies! The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. Nah. You can't just pull it out like you do a tampon. You have to reach up and pinch it to break the seal so you hold the actual cup bit to get it out more than the stem. The stem is mainly just incidental I think. It is the moulding sprue.0 -
Mooncup? Wished I'd known about them years ago. Been using mine for about 12 months, and not had any problems with it. TBH you've nothing to lose if you get one and then don't like it - they offer a money back guarantee if you're not happy after trying it for three months (or at least they did when I got mine).
As for the price being steep, you're joking right? A pack of super plus tampons costs more than £2 per pack, and might last a few days, a mooncup at £18ish is one of the most money-saving things I've ever bought. I also hear reports that Boots sometimes have them in their clearance section for about £10.
My advice would be to try one, you've nothing to loose and the environment has a lot to gain.0 -
Ok, I was dithering a long time over getting one, and finally bit the bullet last week after reading all the positive remarks. I have to say it works really well, so I'm adding my voice to this thread!0

Boots often sell them at reduced price, just keep an eye out for them at a larger storeOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 102
