.......HR at work have shown yet again how incompetent they are and now tell me they are extending my 'at risk' period for another week until 1st Oct becuse they have not been able to put together the proposal for my redundnacy and get it signed off by senior management - honestly, it really isn't all that difficult and complicated! After wanting to get rid of me for so long I just don't understand why they are dragging their feet over it now - it's so frustrating!

Why don't you offer to put together the proposal for them?! I bet that would make them sort themselves out!!

They have to tread on eggshells because you are pregnant, you could easily turn it round to constructive dismissal.

    good evening!

    CM!

Well, I made Nigella's banana loaf and it smells gorgeous! I was sure it wouldn't all fit into the loaf tin, but it did. Had a surprise at the beginning - you have to put sultanas and rum in a pan and bring to the boil. I turned the gas on under the pan, turned away to rinse out a milk bottle, and when I turned back the rum was on fire  I turned off the gas and stood there in consternation until it finally occurred to me to put the lid on the pan, which of course doused the flames :o

I wonder if the cake will keep until Friday in an airtight container? My DBro and his OH are coming that day and it would be nice to offer them some. I couldn't wait any longer to make it as the bananas were definitely very very ripe!

Got to go now and have a go at the Pork with Olives, now my legs have had a rest!

OOH Ivyleaf  at the pan lol, glad that you put the lid on and the loaf turned out well.

Taplady - I wouldn`t worry too much about where the doggies got the fleas, the vet told me that they can pick things like this (and much worse) up just by being in the longer grass as thats a good way of transferring them from one animal to another. We have an old chair in the corner of the living room that very occasionally they are allowed to use, mainly oldie as he is so fragile lately - it`s leather so any loose hairs don`t stick. I don`t really rate the one spot stuff any more as it seems to irritate oldies skin, the vet recommended something called advocate which kills just about anything fleas included and we use this now. It is very good so if the other stuff isn`t working it`s good to know that there`s an alternative HTH.

Well the man who can came and looked at my guttering this afternoon and he cleaned it all out and put a couple of new clips on, part of it is beyond repair as it`s the original cast iron guttering which has been on since 1935  part is newer and is plastic but looks odd. He also cleared me a blocked pipe and a drain so all in all i got a bargain i think. Definitely someone to use again and i`ve told him that i shall give him a call when we get around to replacing it all. Hopefully it should see us through the winter now.

I need to get a move on with all my little jobs that need doing and i`ve promised myself an early night as i`m soooo tired.

    Have a good evening folks.

sunnyday - thanks for the recommendation for my doggies:T we've just given them another bath so we'll see how it goes. One of ours is an oldie too at 15 and a half. They were racing round the garden in the sunshine drying off this afternoon and have had a good brush plus a new duvet and like you said they are cleaner than some people:D

    Evening all.

Haven't posted for a few days as I haven't been too good = not much in the way of OS going on :o

Starting to get back on top of things again now so can put the easy cook meals away, and hopefully get going in the kitchen. That said, we're off for an Italian meal tomorrow, so I only need to start meal planning from Thursday :)

Tonight's dinner was pre-prepared jacket potatoes with garlic butter sauce from Sainsbury's. They were extremely :drool::drool: so I need to look at how I will make those myself instead. Especially as 8 mini jackets cost over £2

Should be - sloe gin needs 3 months minimum "cooking" time.

I can't use the Thanks button as any time I press it I am told I cannot access it!

Have I been thrown out and no one told me?

Thanks everyone for the good wishes.

Got back after seven tonight and made me and DH steak with mushroom and asparagus as desperate for a home cooked meal. Cousin is helping arrange the funeral and we started to clear up some stuff.

Need to get my hair cut before the funeral as I look like Worzel Gummidge on a bad hair day .

Hugs to all especially claire and bargain bird.
