Running my Vauxhall Astra on veg oil

You'll probably know yourself. Starting will become harder and it'll be cutting out a few times before it will run.
I think I started with 5% but it was definately as much as 10% at one point.
That was a couple of years ago now, only done one tank of veg over the winter there and added 10% petrol.0 -

Also, while im here. I have been running 100% new VO for the last few months (ford ranger) at what time of year should I start thinking about adding a bit petrol to it, and how much?
The very same stuff. The only problem with it is that it leaves the patch cleaner than the rest of the drive! In the past summers I have ran on 100% wvo, but it was rape, I can only get palm oil now so I mix a bit of petrol even in the summer, the car flies on it. I wouldn't dare do it in the winter though, I have to admit to being a fair weather alternative fuel user!0 -
Got my eye on an '02' Ford Ranger (really a Mazda B2500 with a blue oval on). Can these be run on wvo ?. I have read conflicting info., it is a £2900 vehicle, so have no wish to destroy it.Never Knowingly Understood.

If your Ranger is either of these then you should be good to go.
MAZDA 44700160 B2500-2,5 D TURBO/1999-06/WL-TURBO/4cyl./2499ccm/80kW/108,8PS/BHP/3500min-1//RP/1-Tank 1-Tank-Kit 751.25

Check your fuel pump, it should be either a Bosch or a Denso (Jap copy). Find other users of thr Ranger/B2500 here -

Just found that they are Keki injection pump Japanese indirect injection, so definatly good for SVO with some petrol.
Good luck and welcome to veggie motoring, feel free to come back and share your experiences - we all love hearing about it!0 -

Thanks for the heads-up about dashboard lighting problems. I have yet to purchase it yet (it is on a forecourt opposite where I work).
I thought I would do the research first before committing a huge sum of cash to a long-term project.
Now I know it will run on wvo, I can complete the following -
1 - Ask local fast food outlets what they do with their used oil.
2 - Get my Convoy through the M.O.T then sell it.
3 - Buy a replacement van with side loading door then out-fit with all the kit needed to filter used oil (I live in a flat, so have no garage or shed).Never Knowingly Understood.

Spent the morning filtering and blending. I know someone who makes bio and I have a bucket of solid fat from my filters which I shall let him have. 'orrible stuff.0

I am going to Birmingham tomorrow for the day on business and I have a hire car as it is cheaper to hire a car and fuel it than to pay for two people to go on the train. So I am currently driving the fastest car on the road! Haven't driven a petrol for a few years so it was nice to go out this morning in air conditioned luxury and thrash the pants of it. Looking forward to the M40 which through experience is the worlds fastest motorway from the M25 to Warwick. Come 9pm tomorrow when I hand the keys back and drive home in the diesel Astra I shall be in shock.0
