Good luck getting your HG sorted. I had one go on a Rover 214si (didn't everyone), car was never the same after getting it fixed so I traded it for a Celica which was probably the best car I have ever had (until I got the Supra).
Currently running on 100% dino at the moment and next week taking it to get the tracking done, alloys wire brushed as tyres keep going flat and a new fuel filter so I don't get caught out again like last January.0 -
Car is down the workshop. Back box went last night. Was in two minds weather to pack it in and get another car but had a look at Eurocarparts and the bits are about £25 a go so I'll get it fixed. Whilst its there I'll get the fuel filter changed and two of the alloys re sealed as I have to fill them up every week. Hey ho.....0

All done for £111. It was definitely time to change the fuel filter!0 -
After last weeks work was done I had a save 5p voucher from Tesco so I filled the old girl up with 50 litres of dino. The following morning as I drove to work my foot slipped of the peddle- my shoe was covered in oil/dino. I had parked over a puddle of fuel, after cleaning my shoe I chuckled to myself that some idiot had a nasty bill coming.
When I returned to my car at the end of the day I walked up the hill towards the back of it where I could see fuel dripping it out of it. The idiot with the bill was me! Dropped the car back at the workshop last Thursday and finally picked it up yesterday £220 lighter. The fuel tank had corroded and there was a small hole, couldn't source a tank from the scrap yard so had to go new and get it especially delivered.
Teach me to laugh at other peoples misfortune!0 -
Ouch. I suppose it's part and parcel with older cars sometimes.
Done one on a Vectra once, luckily the local scrap man does brand new as well as used and had them in stock.
With the old Corsa's it's sumps going porus, my last one and my new project one have both had new sumps fitted.0 -
Is it legal to run the car on veg oil and can the authorities find out?0

Yes its perfectly legal and individuals are allowed a tax free allowance of 2500 litres per year from HMRC.0 -
Been a while, but the Astras about dead (14k miles on veg oil in a year) and I've treated myself to a knackered Frontera DTi for the school run. Also started running the wifes 2.5 Common rail Voyager on 75% bio.0
