Had a car in for MOT recently and a year ago the guy had spoke about his Passat and wasnt sure whether to or not.
He now runs his Passat on 50% diesel 50% new veg oil. Says he's had no problems whatsoever.
New oils less risk with no water or other contaminents like waste oil may have.

Should be fine hopefully now Jim with the temperature. Heres hoping for a good spell of cheap motoring.

VAG engines can be brilliant on veg. What year and engine do you have in your passat, it could be as simple as pouring it in and driving off.
Mine is running beautifully at the moment even though it is not that warm in the mornings.

Doctor used 'human fat to power car'

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article5393763.ece

Dr Craig Alan Bittner, who runs the Liposculpture clinic on Rodeo Drive, said that he had created “lipodiesel” with his patients’ excess subcutaneous fat.
The cosmetic surgeon told Forbes.com that he used the blubber to power two cars including his four-wheel-drive Ford.

I've got a 2000 X reg Audi A4 1.9TDI which I was thinking of trying some veg oil in. Does anyone know if the engine is compatible?

    cheers

If it's common rail, I wouldn't risk it.

You need to look your engine up on this site, if it says "1-tank" for example-
    "4-1,9 TDI/1995-00/AFN/4cyl./1896ccm/81kW/110,16PS/BHP/4150min-1/BOSCH/RP/1-Tank"

Then yes you can use up to 100% veg. If however your engine code says "2-tank"-
    "A4-1,9 TDI PD/2001-05/AVB/4cyl./1896ccm/74kW/100,64PS/BHP/4000min-1/BOSCH/UI/2-Tank-ST2030"

Then you can't use it with out modification such as fitting a second fuel tank or converting your veg into bio.

In a nutshell if it isn't a common rail engine then you can crack on with cheaper or even free motoring, if it is common rail and yours maybe as Audi went to common rail in the A4 range in the year 2000 then you will destroy your fuel pump. Find your engine code a google it or check it against the biomotors site as below. Good luck!

Great with the nice weather finally here. I am running 100% now and intend to do so until mid October now. Need to find some more sources of wvo as my current supply has dried up, I will have to go on a few scouting missions. I did see grime buster on itv this week and they were at a recycling point in Leicester where someone had dumped 4-5 20 litre tins of ktc by the skips so I may have a look around the recycling points around here as well.

Veggie £2.94 for 3L in Tesco at the moment, with a penny going on dino almost daily it makes even the high price of new veg economical.

I had some tossa in a TT cut me up yesterday so when we got to the next set of lights I got out to have a word and point out the error of his ways and why he must have a very strong right arm. As I put my hand on his door handle the he clocked me and put his foot down to jump the red light which was shortly followed by a flash. Three points, £60 and increased insurance premiums, I felt that my work here on planet Earth is complete.

I love driving now with the windows down, every now and then there is a pleasant whiff of bbq when I am sat at the lights and it is even better when there is a convertible sitting on my exhaust.
