  • Hi I hope you can help me.
I've had a eurocarpark charge notice for parking my car in a Basildon carpark in a unauthorised parking area within. This was mainly due to having absolutely no available parking spots free even though no signage outside warned you before you entered that it was full or that it was pay on exit. Hi Now having no cash i parked where i could which i deemed safe and no obstruction and ventured off to get some change. Bang, one ticket. Well I've appealled and lost and now of course i've found out i should have just ignored it in the first place. They now have my details and admission i was there so the advice i need is do i pay or do i wait for bayliffs or court? please help, thanks.

Hi colchestero - welcome to MSE

Euro Car Parks have never taken anyone to court (not that I've seen anyway) so I'd say just ignore - if they went to court they'd only be able to claim what they've actually lost as a result of you parking there. They can't just pluck a random figure from thin air and then take you to court for it.

They'll continue sending letters which may get threatening and involve large fonts (maybe even red ink) but they'll eventually go away when they realise you won't give in. Only take notice if you actually receive official court papers (in the very unlikely event you do, please start a new thread on the board where you'll get lots of help to get it thrown out).
  • In got a Euro Catrpark ticket on 31st july because my ticket was face down (I serioulsy think it may have flipped in the wind when I closed my door!!!) So I appealed saying what had happened and enclosed a copy of my ticket stating I had paid for 2 hours during the time I was fined! I have received a letter today stating "the ticket is valid" and they have enclosed a photocopy of my car reg and the upside down ticket!!

I am furious as though it was upside down I HAD paid for the time (proved by a copy of the carpark ticket!!)

    Shoul;d I ignore?????
  • Unfortunately you should have ignored them right from the off. However all is not lost, continue to ignore them, you'll get about 6 ever more scary letters and then they usually give up.
Remember next time you get an invoice from a private parking company ignore from day one, this does not apply to council/police tickets.

  • I need some help! My hubby parked in Morrison's car park while at college - college car park full.... - and we have yesterday received one of the parking charges for £70 (if we pay within 7 days). I have read through the different examples that have been listed but have not noticed one where someone has parked for too long. My hubby says that he didnt know that there was a time constraint on the parking. Lots of people have suggested do nothing or write back but I dont know what to do....we are in Scotland (in case that makes any difference for this type of charge. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you:j

Your be better of parking this post in the parking forum rather than in here. They are better at getting whining people who got fined for infringing parking conditions off rather than just accept they made a mistake and did something wrong and accept their punishment.
Next time the college car park is full you might want to think about finding a car park and paying for the time you want to stay there rather than trying to park for free at Morrisions and then crying because you got caught out. (This advice is also revelant in Scotland)

This is not a "fine" . Only the police and councils can impose those. This is an unenforceable invoice. The parking company is breaking the law by demanding an excessive penalty.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • I'm so glad I've read your messages on here about this Company, as my friend has just received a letter telling her she was 29 minutes over the 'allowed' 2-hour parking time and has to pay a £70.00 fine. This is a new Morrisons store in Worthing, West Sussex and she was visiting it for the first time and has a receipt for her purchases. Also the car-park was half-empty at the time. From everything I've read on here (many thanks) I don't think she should pay it or even enter into a dialogue with Euro Car Parks. Would a letter of complaint to Morrison's Public Relations Dept be of any use? Any advice very welcome.
  • Best advice would be to go to the parking forum above.
