  • Hatton Garden Metal get my thumbs up too
  • Did get a quote from Lois and was about to post off, but Manchester Gold Company who are NOT a postal company ie they cover 100 miles of manchester matched their price, so i went to them
One warning to all. Get your gold weighed before posting it everywhere. The Manchester Gold Company use Trading Standards approved scales and I got to see the weight on their scales. You can't see the weight if you post off your gold

  • Hi, does any one know where i can sell about 20 small gold pendants encrusted with natural emeralds.

I wouldn't like for the gold to me melted as they are brand new. Also, a place where i wont get rip off....

i tough of selling them through Ebay but i have never use that site before, so I'm not so sure...
  • I used GoldAds.co.uk i placed a couple of premium adverts for £1 each and sold all my gold within one week.
    :j

    Hope this helps.
  • I wouldn't recommend Group International (UKSG) in Wolverhampton, even though they APPEAR to offer the highest prices.

I recently sent them some gold items, which I had bought abroad and which they claimed was a lower grade carat and also weighed slightly less than I had stated in my order - all this despite the fact that I had checked the grade and the weight with my local jeweller!

As I was under the cosh time and cashwise, I couldn't be bothered to have the items returned and then pay another £6 or £7 to send them to another buyer and I already knew that my local jewellers were short on what they would pay, so I had no alternative but to go ahead with the sale (which did go through immediately - the money was in my bank account the same day). But once bitten, twice shy and I will not use UKSG again.

Have used Hatton Garden Metals and found them very fair and very fast - would definitely recommend.
  • Just been reading some of these threads i think i'm going to go for Hatton garden metals.
I have a 2oz gold chain to sell, i converted this to grams and works out at 62.2 my eye's nearly popped out my head when i got the quote this is double of what i paid for the chain can this be right???

I would like to agree with all the recs for Hatton Garden Metals, they are brilliant.I sent off some gold jewellery to them a couple of weeks ago and the money was paid to me the following day, more than I expected too :j

To people asking about rings with stones in,I sent off a few rings, complete with stones, that I had bought off a TV shopping channel and HGM removed the stones and then paid me for just the gold,I could have had the stones returned to me if I wanted.
  • I had a 32.2 gram 9 carat gold chain that i bought in the mid 90's for 90pounds if i remember right. I decided to sell it recently as the price of Gold is at its best ever and after a little internet research discovered the approx scrap value is roughly 350 and i only live 5 minutes out of Manchester City Centre where i read online is a good place to get the best price for gold jewellery and scrap gold. I got off the bus on Oldham Street and tried a jewellers/pawnbrokers, Albemarle & Bond, in regard to selling gold in Manchester Avoid this company like the plague they offered me 250 pounds for my chain i felt very insulted by this offer and said to the assistant "That is a joke, how much per gram is that" he replied "company policy doesn't allow us to tell you the price per gram. I walked out and tried Cash Generator a few doors down they offered me £330 i though this was reasonable but decided to try at least one more place, I tapped Scrap Gold Buyers Manchester in to my iphone's browser and came across Cathedral Jewellers at scrapgoldbuyersmanchester.co.uk. I nipped round to their shop on Thomas Street in the Northern Quarter, the man was very helpful and seemed to explain things to me more than the other companies i spoke to, he seemed to be happy to pay me their best possible price which was 407 pounds exactly, i was obviously delighted at the offer and nearly broke his arm accepting he cash. My whole point is, if you are selling gold in Manchester or anywhere else always shop around, believe me it pays!
