There seems to be loads of adverts for sites that offer this at the moment - any ideas which ones are the best?
Many thanks.

I'd avoid using websites and go direct to an independant jeweller and get a quote, compare the rates a couple offer you and then go with the best.
If you are near the jewellery quarter in birmingham or hatton garden in london these places are the best.
A lot of these websites are at best offering a poor deal or at worst a scam. Don't put gold in the post, it is too much of a risk.0 -
Thank you, I did wonder that Kat.
Will have a look about for a reputable real life jeweller.0 -
Go for an independant rather than a chain, try your local phone book or post your location and people will be able to recommend somewhere to try.0

There are some proper gold dealers in Manchester, it's quite a good place for it. Forget the Jewellers and get the Yellow Pages out. look under Gold dealers, and phone them up, ask each of them what they're paying for 9ct and 18ct. Phone at least 5, and the guys with the single lines are often a lot better than those with the big ads.0

There was an article about it in the Times this weekend - online here.0

I went to local jewellers all of them offering up to £5.00 a gram. I looked online and some of the sites dont tell you how much they pay. I found one called scrap-gold-buyers and they had a calculator so I worked out they were paying £7.25 a gram. I checked them out on companies house and the results came up well so I thought I will give them a try. I got the exact rate they quoted with no fees and it was paid in to my account the very next day. I can only recommend them.0

IMO There are two places that pay the most for scrap gold. HGM in London and The Manchester Gold Co in Manchester. HGM do take postal gold but the Manchester Gold Co only covers the North-West.As for the rest with their hidden refining fees and inaccurate (ie untrue) gold calculator prices.......forget em!!!!0
