Please explain. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
And that is just not true either......some people are feeling the pinch because essentials are still going up but their money remaining static.
Not everyone has overextended, not everyone puts everything on the credit card and not everyone has loans and finance for cars.
Low interest rates do not help everyone...not everyone has a mortgage.
Yes, I am feeling the pinch...and no I have NEVER over extended myself nor do I use credit to get by.
This is all very well, SingleSue, and it might be your individual experience, but you can't argue with the facts.
This has been touted as the worst recession since the war. And yet, 90% of the working population of this country (and their dependants) are still working. And they have been doing so against a backdrop of historically low interest rates (which affects the vast majority of the population) and negative inflation rates.
You simply can't argue with that.
It is pretty easy to extrapolate those facts and say that for most people, this has been a pretty easy time, particularly those who have been financially prudent and have historically lived within their means.
If this is a great recession, let's have more of it please.0 -
I was more replying to your assumption that those who are struggling are doing so only because of overextending themselves....which is incorrect.
I was correcting that assumption as I so hate generalisations.
As I have often said on here, in the last recession, I was blindly unaware of what was going on around me, how others were struggling as I was not impacted upon at all at the time (my salary increased hugely, I changed jobs easily etc)...pretty much what would be happening for a lot of others this time around. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Thanks for prompting me to read again. The problem began when I read post 43. Perhaps I was misjudging fc123 as his was the post that caused Bo drinker to post. Sorry if that was unjustified. However Generali has now felt he has to join in with a personal insult.(post 58)
Apology accepted..BTW I am a She.

Thanks, but difficult to determine gender from your user name. I'm always unsure how to deal with gender if it's not obvious.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0

Nothing in particular. You can just be a bit blokey sometimes. You're not the only one!
Edited to add: there are some posters you feel on the same wavelength as, in my case these are often lir, treliac, sue, fc, cleaver. There are others that I just love reading, like Pastures and Gen. Sometimes I read your posts bo and think "you're such a bloke", but you aren't rude to me and hopefully I'm not to you. My point is we can debate and have differences of opinion. That's what makes this board a rich tapestry, and why I hope you didn't mind me stepping in when I thought bryanb was getting a little hot under the collarPlease stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I generally do that if someone comes up with a pointless and unwarranted attack on someone else. Just kinda toss one back at them in case the insulted person misses it.
Sorry if I misconstued your comments. My personal attack was nothing personal (IYSWIM).0
