It has cost me a fortune on lost interest on savings....i dont even even want to add it up..:embarasse
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

I see that you and fc123 have thanked each other in your contemptible little posts. At least it's raising your opinions of yourselves.

Oh dear you have been busy trawling all the posts to gain some info.
If you read the 2nd post we were in agreement that you may want to read some more misery, the very reason I don't come on here as much as I did ..
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

I don't understand the outburst bryanb. It has left many regular posters here scratching their heads as to what is behind it. fc123 is one of the most respected posters here with valuable experience (both positive and negative) in the retail business, and while I would be the first to admit I don't always see eye to eye with bo drinker, I don't understand why you have laid into him either, or why disagreeing with someone has to be made so personal.

    Please explain.

That's just not true geoff. Real returns on savings are higher now than they have been for years. With interest rates around 2-3% and inflation in the negative, you're getting a better return on your money now than at any other time in recent history.

I think we should call a spade a spade. With all due respect to the 4-5% of workers who have lost their jobs in the last 18 months, this recession has generally been very very positive for the 95% of the workers who have remained in jobs during that period.

Low inflation, low interest rates. If people are feeling the pinch it is because they overextended themselves and find their credit harder to come by, which is no bad thing. People say pensions have suffered, but the FTSE today is up 5% this calendar year, and is roughly the same level as at this time twelve months ago.

If these impacts are the definition of a disastrous recession, then let's have another one soon, can we?
