My house deposit fund is not earning as much interest.
I've had a pay freeze at one part-time job.
At the other part-time job I asked to increase my hours by 5 hours/wk and they were only able to give me an extra 1 hour/wk.
    Petrol is more expensive.
On the plus side, child care expenses have been frozen too, and the houses I might eventually buy are no longer rocketing in price.

But all in all, not too bad so far. I am trying to get a head-start on austerity habits now, because as someone who both pays income tax and claims WTC/CTC, I am expecting to get hit from both directions after the general election.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

I just find it all, living day by day. No mortgage and savings/ investments going no where. Mrs. P has a job that`s safe, as many hours as she wants but not great pay. I have my little business down from over £50k profit a year to a fraction of that but it doesn`t seem to be getting any worse. If we have £500 a week coming in we still live like kings. Don`t spend any thing like that amount.

No effect at all. On the balance, it's been relatively positive. Cash savings secure and earning very good interest rates overseas, and further enhanced by the fact that the Kiwi (my cash is in New Zealand) has soared 20% against sterling in recent months. Equity based investments doing well. I only got into the market back in May, so missed the start of the rally but you can't have it all ways.

Job secure. I didn't get an increase or bonus at the annual pay round back in May, but as I'd only been in the job three months, I wasn't expecting one.

All in all, not too bad.

Why start the thread if it doesn't affect you  I could spend all night starting threads about things that don't affect me but do affect thousands of others, but why.

    Why not?
But to answer your question with another. Why bother to post on such a thread as this?
Also interested to know how Derek Simpson's verdict on Gordon Brown affected you? See your recent thread on the subject.
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !

Lol PN. That figure quoted comes from the good old boom days and was reliant of a lot of customer activity. Once again, I hasten to add that I won`t get even close to half of that. Also I had approx £12k running costs to deduct. The one good thing is that my overheads are almost a 100% not fixed.

I was made redundant in earlier this year. Though I managed to get a job later but had to take 40% salary cut.

Yes, I am feeling pinch of recessasion every moment :(
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.
