dried yeast / fresh yeast?

Hello everyone!
Yesterday I managed to get a free brick of yeast from Asda bakery, I thought I'd seen the method for doing bread with fresh yest in my panasonic bm book, but NOPE!
So if the recipe is asking for a tsp of instant yeast, how much fresh should I use? and what should I do with it before throwing it in bm?

I normally portion the fresh yeast into an ice cube tray (mostly full each) and freeze it.
I use a single portion per loaf.
Add a cube to warm water with half of the sugar that the recipe calls for and stir well.
Wait until it forms a frothy layer on top and then place it in the BM along with all the other ingredients and don't forget the other half of the sugar.
Job done
Note:- You can't use fresh yeast if you are using a time delay to make bread for breakfast because the yeast will keep on working all the time it's sitting there. I have a loaf in now, experimental of course!
I will use my dried yeast for my fresh morning loaves.

ok my trial and error fresh yeast loaf has just finished! not too bad at all, could have been a little taller!! But hey ho, I used a level tsp of fresh yeast for a 1lb loaf!Sig ah Sig Ahhh0

I use 14g of fresh yeast to 500g flour and 300ml liquid-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
I have used fresh yeast in the overnight programme.
I just crumble the yeast up ( I use a piece about the size of the end of my thumb for the 500g size) put flour and rest of ingredients on top as per instructions and go to bed! Perfect loaf every time.
I prefer fresh to dried quick yeast,which I keep in the fridge in case I can't get to Asda!0 -
i have found some lovly looking bread recipies that all ask for freash yeast, the book they are in says its fine to use dried but dosent offer any kind of conversion chart and 10g of dried yeast sound like a lot to me, i thhink i should use less if it dried i have googled and came up with any thing between using 50% and 33% of original amounttwins on board0

You usually use half the amount of dried yeast to fresh - however 1 tsp of dried will raise 1-2lbs of flour depending on how you make it and how long you leave it to rise.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
