I made a special one with an M on to give to our older dog, as that is the initial of our younger dog that died at the weekend, little things like that seem to be helping me in an odd way!! Silly I know!!

That's not silly it's really sweet, and if it helps then it's a good thing :D
Is anyone else having trouble eating??

We went to KFC last night and I got a fully loaded box, and I had the fillett burger, the chips and the gravy, and I couldnt finish the chips :( and believe me I usually can lol

I dont think I can handle eating little and often

I can eat it all, but then feel too full for ages. I have a large appetite anyway so not being able to stuff myself and not feel full is a bit weird. I don't want little meals either, I like big momma meals!!

Fidget so sorry it didn't work out for you today. This is my first so no induction story I'm afraid but you are within your rights to be scared. Sending the biggest labour vibes I can muster between now and Thursday, and a big hug xx

I would ring again and ask to speak to another midwife if you have any doubts about being induced. At the end of the day it is your decision not theirs, even if you decide every time to go along with everything they advise you need to be sure you don't feel the control is taken from you.

This is exactly what I was going to say. The choice is down to you, but if you're so uncomfortable with it, why are consenting to the induction? You have every right to refuse the induction and to persistently annoy the MWs until someone sweeps you (I would call them twice a day and definitely get someone to commit - be firm and even a little nasty!). Not everyone is comfortable with going against the authority of doctors/hospitals, but I think it's important that feel empowered rather than belittled and take the choice back into YOUR hands. DO NOT let them bully you!! This is YOUR birth and you can have it done YOUR WAY. I'm not saying induction is bad, but that if there is no danger to baby there is absolutely nothing wrong with being overdue and like others have sad, other countries let you go far longer before an induction is offered.

*hugs* either way...I know this is really hard & upsetting to you - can you talk to your OH and come to a decision together on what's best for you AND baby?

Hugs Fidget I can't believe Hubby can't be there with you. Hubby was with me the whole time. I went in to be induced when i was 2 weeks over. We had to be there at 7.30am they checked me over to see if i was dilated at all and to see what to give me. Nothing was needed other than a sweep and oh my god i know some people say they are ok but this was awful. It was so painful i cried. I swear she was up to her elbow:eek:She thrust her hand so hard i and the bed moved and i hit my head:eek:
After that all the women were free to go off for a few hours for a walk or to the cafe with their partners to get things going. Unless there is a medical reason being in bed is no use. We could come back at any point if we wanted to or if we were in full labour as that was our bed for the day and then we would be moved to the delivery suite.
I had a EMCS at 1.20 am the next day and hubby was allowed to stay with me on the ward though the night. He finally left at about 7 to get a few hours sleep and came back to me at about 11.

I have found the mat ward quite good for allowing partners to stay it's the other wards at our hospital that are rubbish. I was shocked that i was brought in at 4 am when i was losing the twins and they sent him away. There i was going though that all on my own and so was he. He wasn't even allowed back untill 3 the next day normal visiting hours and i had to go though all the internal scans and treatment on my own. They also sent him away at the evening meal time.
I don't know if they do that now on the mat ward or not i think it is a new rule, to make sure pts eat.

I think my DS has got the beginnings of swine flu. He's got a headache, temperature, cough, feels generally unwell and sleepy, and although he hasn't been to the toilet i can smell from his wind that he's got an upset tummy.

I did the online assessment thing and it says to get him the tamiflu but i don't know if it's really flu or if it's going to pass? I guess everyone has this dilemma, especially as the tamiflu is meant to be worse than the flu itself...

    Thanks everyone,

I know I'm getting myself worked up about the whole thing. OH rang and I had a cry all over him.

I'm glad you lot seem to understand where I'm coming from with the whole induction thing - I was really taken aback that the midwife asked me to justify why I might want to avoid it. I pretty much thought that she would have already heard why a lot of people aren't keen.

Thanks Alibobsy - it's nice that someone can see where I'm coming from.

Nikkit - Thanks for the story - did make me feel a little more positive. I just remember the visiting hours being 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening when I had DD so I was thinking along those lines. I'm hoping they make some kind of allowances in the circumstances but the phrase "once your birthing partner is aware of your plan of care, you will appreciate that visiting is as per ward arrangements."

Aless - At first I was happy to get the induction date as I have to be honest, I didn't realise that I would be put on a regular antenatal ward, that it might take several days and that OH would be told to leave. I'm being so crap at the moment I can't do anything because I can barely walk. My little girl is going haywire with the whole atmosphere and impending birth situation that I'm thinking I don't want to poss go another week or so waiting. (For those that don't remember me saying she has learning and behavioural difficulties). She is going on about people dying alot so I think her little world is getting a bit rattled. I don't expect that to just disappear but there seems to be a high pressure feeling with nothing to focus on if that makes sense.

HUGE labour vibes and hugs Fidget, I forego all my labour vibes and pass them to you instead. No induction stories I'm sorry, but if the worst does come to the worst and you get induced on Thursday, just try think positive, ah thats crap advice, I really don't know what to say, just hope everything goes ok for you. Theres still time for you to start on your own yet though don't forget!!! I know it's completely different but I really wanted to have had my baby before tommorow (mum died 1 year ago tommorow) but thats not gonna happen now so I just have to try think positive about it instead.
love my little man he is amazing :j

Aw beenie I thought I was having bad luck. I hope it's nothing, you must be really worried though maybe you should ring NHS direct or the helpline just to see then at least if you have the tamiflu you can then reassess if you think you should give it to him. x

Morning all just to let you know I gave birth to baby Myla yesterday morning at 3.06am she weighs 7'10.5lb and is beautiful..

I firstly want to thank everyone for your support and kindness..

Although I planned for a water birth unfortunately the pains were so intense... I had a natural birth with some assistance will post story on soon, we are home now left last night.. trying to get to grips with the breast feeding now..

Thank you and good luck everyone!! x

    CONGRATULATIONS NANCMAT :beer::T

Fidet - hugs to you sweetie. It is probably worth as suggested trying to postpone your induction - it can't be healthy for you to be panicking about it can it? Hopefully you will speak to a decent MW tomorrow who will put your mind at rest. maybe write a list of questions that you would like answers which couold make you feel better about an induction and list why you would prefer to not have an induction and have it to hand when they call. I don't know about you but as soon as I have to talk to someone all questions/reasons go oout of my head.

Kindof - I think it was you asking about appetites. i could only eat half meals. OH ended up eating for 2 whilst I was barely eating for one. Then when I started getting my appetite back I think my stomach was getting squashed by Jr so still couldn't eat for two!
