fidget , im so sorry it didnt go as planned ,
is the ward not a 10 - 8 visiting time for partners anyway ? ours is ..

I was induced with my DD 5 weeks prem as they thought she was small and had irregular HB , but she weighed 5lb , which was gd @ 35weeks , and Hb was good, anyhow..
I went in 8 am , had the stuff inserted , partner was allowed to stay , they said go fro walks etc had lunch , i even came home and relaxed at home , ( dont know if i should of ) then was back at ward for 2pm insertion , still nothing so went over the road to a pub ( again dont know if it was allowed) but was not going to just sit and wait for something to happen , went abck by about 6pm , still nothing , EX went home at 8pm , and then things started to happen at about 11pm , so they took me to the labour ward and called Ex, he arrived , once i was there it all stopped , they then offered we could go back to ward or stay where we were , which we did at that time we both dozed off, it was then 8am , and still nothing , the consultant came round and asked MW why the hell noone had burst my waters , anyhow they did , and by 11 am my DD was born. ( EX had popped out to get food as he was starving and missed the birth after all that )

Please do not be worried , usually they will not treat you as a prisoner , you beable to walk around the hospital , and i am sure your OH will have the right to stay the full visiting times , which as i said is usually all day , if not get him to wait outside for you and you just dissappear from the ward until you feel like something is happening , then tell them you called him as you didnt want to be on your own , i cant see them kicking him out

    HUGE LAOUR VIBES B4 THURSDAY
Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec

Just catching up again on this thread, it fills up so fast lol.
So sorry to Merfe about her scan, but I imagine she is no longer on here. I had the same thing last time and it is heartbreaking to see that look on the sonographers face. Was so relieved to see little one jumping around this time. Hopefully Merfe will be back when she is ready and all will be well next time.

Fidget, think I must have missed it but how far over are you? I went over with all mine and have refused to be induced. As you say it takes control from you and I have been told it is more painful. I read alot about it and found that many specialists and other countries consider it safe to go even 3 weeks over (as long as no loss in amniotic fluid and they usually do regular monitoring).

I have always found the NHS system to be patronising and you are treated almost as a number. They assume what they say is best and you will do as you are told. I have had a local midwife who I have known for many years and she is great, she understands that I want as little interference and testing as possible. But the new "arrangements" put on me by the mat unit this time meant she wasn't allowed to come out to do my booking appointment as in the past. I had to attend a clinic in a rough area I don't know. I had to arrnge to borrow a car, drag my DD2 (age 1) around a rough bunch of shops trying to find the Bl***Y place only to get a young patronising slip of a girl who spoke to me like I was brainless. I have now been given an appointment at the hospital maternity clinic with no discussion of if this is where I wanted my care.
Needless to say I WON'T be going there. With my DS I attended a hospital "consultants" appointment and after struggling with parking (which I paid a fortune for) waiting 2 hours, I finally saw a midwife who di just the same tests any midwife did and then a lowly DR (not the consultant) popped in, looked at the notes, barely spoke and popped off-damn waste of time. With DD1 I again struggled up with DS in tow, parked nearby to avoid the bl***y charges. Ran in with DS in the rain getting soaked only to be told no DR's have turned up !!!!!!.

I refused to attend again and with DD2 the same I choose which tests and appointments and where I will attend. They keep changing what they do and when they see you all the time anyway, so something they state is necessary now will have changed in 12 months.

I think because this is my 7th pregnancy and 4th baby (fingers crossed) I have become quite militant about how I am treated too many DRS and some midwifes act as though it is a production line.

I would ring again and ask to speak to another midwife if you have any doubts about being induced. At the end of the day it is your decision not theirs, even if you decide every time to go along with everything they advise you need to be sure you don't feel the control is taken from you.

Another option is to try to get things going yourself, but I am sure you have heard them all. I have found the long walk/spicy food/"input" from OH to be the most effective (preferable in order not together rofl).

    Either way good luck.

    ali x
