They'll have tv crew & the DNA testing lot there ready no doubt - along with the 7 potential fathers outside the delivery suite!!! Oh god, I really don't want to go there :(

They won't let me choose because my consultant care for this tumour is at St James's, apparently they don't have an equivalent team at the LGI. Though I think this is a load of rubbish because I basically see them once every few months, they say 'any problems', I say 'no', and off I go. Don't see why I might possibly need them after birth in any great rush. I'm going to raise it with the midwife when I see her next, mightily pee'd off that I was led to believe waterbirth was a possibility at St James's, there's not much I do want, in fact, that's the only thing, and I think it's bl*ody unfair of them to take that away.

Is a homebirth a possibilty at all then you can have your own pool?

EA - I am as well for the first time then I might get sick lol, I may even iron it all (and I never iron lol)

Awww so cute!!!!!! Lily a bridesmaid, I am sure they do them?

jenny - Make sure you moinotr it then ring MW if anyting you dont like(which I know you will anways lol) xxx

  • Ahh I see gymfriend. That is pretty crap if you can't have the waterbirth. If it's any consolation Jimmy's is meant to be the better hospital for maternity, and if the 2 pools are busy when you need them you can't use them anyway (prob not any consolation but thought I'd try!)

Jenny, is it worth a call to your MW just to be on the safe side?

EA have you thought about Debenhams or somewhere like that for tiny bridesmaid dresses?

They want me in hospital Kindof :( As does OH as he's worried about complications - I hate doctors sometimes, they're such scare mongerers, I've never had any problems with this tumour beyond messed up hormones & headaches, yet they make out like it's so serious in front of OH that he panics. Feel like screaming, might just move myself over to a posh town like Harrogate or somewhere before the birth, I hear their hospital is nice :rotfl:
    Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j
  • Lol, i remember last time around we ordered a take way (can't remember what it was but i do remember i couldn't stomach ANY meat for the entirety of my pregnancy) I was about 30 wks+, they got my order wrong and it had meat in it - that was enough to send me balling into tears for ages :o The silliest things made me so damn emotional last time :p

lou - you've just confirmed my fear...I've also got a GP appt for my 32 week and I really want to know what position the baby is in but fear that a GP won't be able to find it at all. Dunno why they make us go this late in pregnancy when it's more important to have people who know what they are doing!! I'd rather have gone much earlier at like 20-something when all they do is take your BP & pee. Grrr.

Sorry Aless but i agree with you it's was so annoying we had a evening appointment so maybe try and go for one in the day. She was running late as well, the lady that went in before us was pregnant as well and she was with her for ages so thought that was a good sign, she measured me and said " Oh that's alright" but could have done with a chat etc but it was like ask at your next midwifes appt. Also asked for a script for gaviscon which she forgot to give me !! It was really like we were wasting her time . Sorry but saying that try for a day appt and i think the reason why i did not say more was because she caught me off guard so be prepared.
Darling son born 10/12/09 hopefully the 1st of many :j

Ooh Aless I never knew that about non-bio, tbh I just presumed it's what is used and that's that, I actually don't even know the difference :o Either way, got some non-bio that mum bought for us so will use that for the first while then see if I think it's worth bothering after that, would think it'll do about 30 washes so baby will be pushing 6 months by the time we run out, eek!

Sorry, wasn't trying to lecture! Was just pointing out that we're all probably so ingrained with what advertisers tell us on TV that we don't even stop to think that it's obviously in their interests for us to believe so as it makes them tons of money! Do you think it's a coincidence that non-bio costs more?

Here's a bit about bio vs. non-bio from The Nappy Lady (which you could extract to apply to baby's clothes which are also next to the skin like a nappy):
As for washing powder, I'm going to depart from usual advice regarding using non biological powders for infants. Bear in mind that most of the rest of the world manages fine without any non bio detergents - Britain is one of the few markets to sell it, so it clearly is not essential. Children may be sensitive to fragrances or additives in either bio or non bio detergents, so find what works best for you. Biological powders tend to clean without bleaching, whereas many non biological powders work by bleaching rather than removing stains as such. Therefore, if you have coloured nappies or print wraps, you are probably best to use a biological detergent.

Note that not all powders (or liquids) are as good as others, and some may have agents added to which your child is sensitive. Formulas also change periodically, and so a powder you have used happily before may suddenly bring your child out in rash. My homeopathic practitioner, who also does allergy testing, recommends Surecare or Filetti (available in Tesco's etc, in a pink plastic bag) as the detergents you are least likely to be allergic to. She says a lot of people react to Persil non Bio in particular. Just be aware that once you start to use real nappies, a very sensitive part of your child's body is now coming into contact with detergents, and if they have problems with redness, it could easily be related to this.

I'll shut up about this now. :o
