I was on leave last week, but the team received a press release about this account on 15 September, and wrote it up for the article as soon as the embargo was lifted.
Thanks
MSErs don't have holidays!:D:D
If it wasn't a holiday but becoming a father, then congrats. If its through illness, then hope you feel better. :T
p.s. you have an embargo!?0 -
Most press releases have an embargo - dont release details before x date - to give the journalists time to write up the article prior to the release date so that the article is ready to go the second its ok to do so.0

I applied for this account online on Tues eve. Last night I received an e-mail asking for further identification (certified passport/driving licence & utility bill/bank statement etc), which I could do online or via snail mail. The online request was for my passport number only. It all looks ok (i.e. not a scam), but does anyone have any views on this and has anyone completed the online form?0

dont click on the URL in the email - retype in the browser obviously making sure its a Citibank URL0

Both myself and other-half tried typing passport numbers into the URL (navigating from citibank home page), but heard nothing for a couple of weeks, and when we phoned to find out what was going on, were told that the passport numbers hadn't been accepted and we'd have to send ID. Shortly after that, we received letters in the post saying much the same. (We applied for accounts ages ago, when they were still 3.1% but fortunately, the delay meant we are getting the new 3.3% rate, I think.)0

That's really useful to know Psychic Teabag. I might try phoning them on Monday to chase it up if I haven't heard anything. Don't really want to have to wait a couple of weeks before being told I still have to send paperwork as well.0

I'm impressed with Citibank so far. Last night I received an email quoting my new account number, this following on from my original application on the evening of 22nd Sept. So all very quick so far. They're going to send me a pin and a card then I'll be able to activate the account and transfer money in. This should arrive within 5 days.0

I opened this account for my wife on 23rd Sept. Received the PINs today, still waiting on the card/account no.
Will be sweeping up 2 older accounts with lower interest rates into here, I also have some fixed rate (6%, those were the days!) ending soon that I will move into there for now.
No inside leg measurements were revealed in the opening of this account :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Seemed efficient at first.
They send you a card (not sure why, it's neither a credit nor debit card after all!) and PIN, and give you a phone number to contact them to activate the account, which you must do before trying to transfer money in.
Okay in principle, but we can't seem to get them to answer the phone, they are just "sorry to keep you waiting". Not at all encouraging.0 -
Know what you mean johnoz - I phoned them on Friday and hung on for over 10 minutes before they answered. However, as its an 0800 number I wasn't too bothered as it wasn't costing me anything.0
