well nothing spent today although just waiting to see if i have won something on ebay for xmas pressies so might not quite make it. Just had brownies and cream for dinner. not very healthy but very very yummy!
OH now gone and children almost in bed. Got to decide am i awake enough to get sewing stuff out or just veg on sofa?Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -
well last night i won the baby book on ebay so not a NSD and also today another few items for baby have been won so again not a NSD for me. Although i normally would have thought to go to asda and buy meat for dinner as OH decided he wanted roast. I said that is not what is planned but i will put it in planner for next week. This then saved me a trip and probably half a trolly's worth of food!
Also never made the sewing machine last night. I was so tired that i just went to bed, didnt even manage half hour of tv.
Anyway got dads old freezer today. OH not sure he wants it but i am still quite keen as we have downsized to 1 small chest freezer as only small amount of space. Dads would replace it and it is taller so will take the same amount of space so will see.Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -
I have spent far too much this month on bargins and although i will need everything that i have bought it is causing my bank balance to dip very low. I acidently went over my overdraft last month and have been waiting to see how much in charges they will stick on. I was expecting £30 - £40 but no £95! i am certainly not going to be buying anything this month as need the money for charges. Cant believe how much it is really but i guess i have learnt a very expensive lesson.
I have done my meal planner for this week and got enough food to keep us going for at least a week. We havent had any bread since sat morning as we ran out and i refused to go to the shops. Had 2 NSD's even though OH moaned throughout! Tried to make bread last night in the breadmaker for this mornings breakfast but ran out of bread flour. used plain flour but it was just not right, never mind, we ate it and are feeling ok so far!
I will have to get thinking of a few more ways to make a little more money as i cant keep going like thisMe, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -
£95!!! Ouch!
Have you tried ringing them and pleading poverty with them and see if they will reduce or waiver it?
I do the same with bargains, I've got most of my boys Christmas and birthday gifts as I've seen stuff really cheap but then I skint for the rest of that month. Well done on the NSD!Trying to do one positive thing (however how small) per day to be mortgage free/reduced and be frugal but still enjoy life!Debt LBM Feb 2010 = £7841.97/ now £0, MFW 2011 = £9k in savings
MFW target 2012 to save £11,000 for Over Payments/fill ISA's and reduce lots of things - outgoings, alcohol, waste, weight0 -
well yet again i have been naughty and bought a few bits from the car boot this morning. only a few pounds worth but this month i really should try to keep control of all of the little pennies. Its the begining of my month for me financially speaking and OH's money has gone in. I stayed within my overdraft by a few pennies (so to avoid any stupidly high charges) even if it ment selling stuff and putting money straight in.
i am pretty much set baby wise now and only need cot matress and bouncy chair. my friend says she has lots of clothes for me so i suggested that she drops a few bits off each week so that it makes me think i have been shopping and got them myself without the spending.
Got step mothers xmas pressie the other day. she likes elephants so i have got her 2 black shiny ceramic ones out of QS - one mummy and one baby elephant. i may put some felt on the bottom of them to make them look posh. also would like to find good looking box to pack them in. she is such a snob but hopefully will have no idea i only paid £3 in total for them! My brother was only gloating the other day he had got her pressy for £6. its kind of beat that! Sister has now taken up the challenge of beating £3.Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -
OH just got home and has had a moan that he has spent all his money and his bank account is empty. This is code for "you know i am now giving you extra money, well i will probably need some / most of it back". this is all very well but i dont have any spare as tax credits went down this year. Will see how long it is before he asks!Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190

Me again. Spoke to OH about money situation and suggested that he goes to local second hand car salesman and asks how much he will give us for our car. We need to get a slightly larger one due to baby on its way. we have had notices up in car and several other places for some time now and car tax due end of month. things are also starting to look like they could need replacing very soon.
I realise that salesman may not give us quite as much as a private sale but it should still give us enough for new car with extra to go towards OH's HGV test and a little spending money to keep us going for a few months. He thought it was worth taking and asking but was unsure as we wouldnt have a car for a little while. I said i didnt mind as only staying local for the next few weeks anyway. He is just unsure incase i need to get to the hospital and we wont all fit in the truck. I said we have friends who would take care of kids in an emergency so all would be fine.
so tomorrow i will clean car and he will take it and try to get best price for it i guess, so fingers crossed xMe, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -
had a think last night and if i am going to be left without a car for a few weeks then i will do my shopping online - value stuff mainly. Had a look and the price for delivery would be either £3 at tesco or £3.50 at Asda. next dilema then is i believe asda is cheaper but they have had very bad reviews for their online shopping. So now not sure which to opt for tesco reliable but expensive or asda poor but cheap.
Anyone got any advice on this one?Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -
Hello all i am back after a long break. I had a little girl early november and am struggling to keep up financially. DD is now at school and DS is at nursery 3 hours each day whichis great as i can now get housework and food shopping done a lot easier and quicker.
We bought a new car - people carrier type thing but since getting it, it has cost us a fortune in repairs and its still not right. Fuel seems to last half the time so trying to walk everywhere we can to help reduce this.
OH had to reduce payments to me as he needed money more but thinking this will have to go up again as food and mortgage comes before his next racing project! Cant wait for warmer weather so washing can go outside and heating can remain off. been so cold here recently and i have been soft and just put heating on.
DS still in nappies but no longer fits in the value ones so costing nearly £6 per week for him. Need to get him potty trained asap as need money for food instead. One of OH benefits from work means we get 5% off Mr A shopping/fuel which i need to make better use of.
Last note before i get ready for school run is 77p for a pack of minstrals!!! when did that happen. Addicted to love hearts since getting pregnant and had gone off chocolate. Obviously a good thing.
Please join me again in my money / life struggles and joys xMe, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -
well day 5 of potty training and i think DS is getting the hang of things. only 1 accident so far today.
nsd for me today as DD is feeling poorly again plus we do not need anything.mushrooms to go with dinner would be nice but its not needed so will stay away from shops today.
i am now getting my tax credits on a weekly basis to help with DD's going through before i receive them. i am hoping this helps cash flow until OH can contribute a little more.
Have been cleaning a lot recently as this doesnt really cost anything.Have sent several bags to the local charity shops as well as trying to sell the odd bit here and there.Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190
