April 2010 brides (and grooms) - do we have a thread?!

:j Soooo excited!

Started looking for fabric to make my dress and was shocked at the price of the lace I wanted for it - around £80 per metre and i need 5:eek: plus the duchess satin to go underneath - so much for saving money!

Anyways, found a person selling 10 metres of it on ebay - they had bought too much for their dress. After several emails and photos being sent i decided to bid on the auction which ended on Monday. I kept checking it all morning and finally put in my maximum bid - how fast was my heart beating!! Just 2 minutes later I had won, over £800 of lace for less than £250 - including postage! :j Hurrah!

It arrived today and it is perfect - exactly what I wanted. Now just have to decide what colour satin to go underneath. OH is wearing a brown suit with a yellow shirt so I want to go for either chocolate brown or a pale latte colour.

Just dug out some sheets and put them under the lace - think I will go for the lighter brown as it is more subtle.

Wow I too am in the process of buying a house as well as arranging the wedding! The house will also need to be completely redecorated eeek! Roll on the honeymoon when I will be able to have a rest :rotfl:

Our invitations arrived from Panama this week and SQUEE! They are gorgeous! And only $0.75 each, I was amazed! Also booked car and cake lady last week.

I feel like a bit of a fraud really, our wedding isn't turning out as money-saving as I had planned...

Was just wondering what progress everyone is making? I spent last Sunday making the other four flower girl Tiaras, just mine to make now! Next on my list is putting the invites together, how soon is everyone else sending them out? Can't believe it's only 20 weeks on Saturday!

Me and my OH are getting married in Cuba on 19th April (sorry wish i could arrange for 17th now as it seems to be the day of choice!!!!!) :j

15 people joining us!!

Everything is going swimmingly (i think) got my suit / OH has ordered her dress / bridesmaid - sorted / bestman (my brother) - sorted! / music sorted / flowers sorted / blimey just one thing we haven't done yet and its quite important - the rings!!!!!!!!!!!

OH knows what she wants but me - well I change my mind virtually every day! - two tone / white gold / titanium / palladium / platinum and the most important question to bling or not to bling?? Decisions decisions!

We still need to sort rings too, had some designs sent today from a shop in town, love two of them but no prices quoted yet so don't want to get too excited til we know if we can afford them!
It's hard choosing something that you will hopefully wear forever.

Hi Everyone !! Just been looking for Bridesmaid dress info and saw the thread. We are getting married on 17th April in Southchurch. We have booked the hall, found my dress, made enquiries about other things but still have lots to do. Trying to keep it moneysaver but its not easy. We are going to have a small wedding about 30 people, then go for a meal. We will have a big party after the honeymoon.:j
Where in Cuba are you getting married ? We went there 2 years ago and had a great time. :beer:

Welcome & congratulations JJ - another April 17th bride! What is it with that date? I tried to book my wedding for then too, but the town hall was fully booked so I had to settle for the 14th.

We're also getting married in April, but on the 10th rather than the 17th!

What with buying a house too, we're a bit busy at the min!

Does anyone have any suggestions on florists in the London area? The quotes I've been getting are ridiculous!

We bought the house before we got engaged, think I might have gone mad if trying to do both at the same time! With regards to florists, I know a lot of people buy flowers in places like M&S and do it themselves.
