I won ebay auction but it said i was second bidder!

I wonder when that was quietly changed - there is nothing in the current or archived announcements about it!

Having never sold on a Dutch Auction, I didn't notice it ever going from the listing page!

It's the folk that bid £43.99 that get me twitchy. Always strikes me as a bid designed to lose.

email them, explain you were the rightful winner & even offer them a couple of quid more than it went for. maybe theyll give you a second chance offer...

So the ebay bid was at £42.... that's how the new bidder got in at £44.05, as it was over £1 more than the current bid, which was £42, regardless of the fact that your maximum bid was £44.

Others have already explained the inticacies of why you didn't win, so ignoring ebay's bid increment system for a second: Who bid the higher amount? Not you. And therefore who won... again, not you.

Basically, you lost the item, feel a bit annoyed about it, and want to blame anyone but yourself.

Soon people will be posting threads along the lines of "I lost an item because someone would pay more than me"

Even ebay agree with me! no, "basically" bid increment had to be £1 more to win and it was not so basically i won in accordance to ebay bidding rules. Even seller agrees and is asking other person to pay £45 or will let me have it which is a result.

So both seller and ebay agree with me rather than you.
