Not long at all now..
52 days (and counting!)
I went to make a further payment on my dress today. There was £588 left to pay and I wanted to leave a balance of £250 left (mainly because then I can get the amount out in one go if need be.) I have to pay in cash as I have had a reasonable discount on account of the fact I am paying in cash so all payments must be made in that manner. Which is fine really as I always intended to do that.
So I went in with £338 and a few questions. The first, is it corseted well? I know Ian Stuart dresses are usually pretty well corseted and rarely is there a need for additional slimming aids but as I already know the dress is going to be a bit nippy in some areas (and less so in others.. mores the pity. Stuck with these lemons it would seem. . Lol) I felt it was worth an ask. She did explain that the Brasilia is one of the best corseted dresses on account of how much of it is in show and not ‘hidden’ with and flowing fabrics etc. So I feel a bit better about that as the weight loss thing is going nowhere. Tell a lie.. its going in the complete opposite direction that it should despite my best efforts.
Anyway, next question was ‘when is it going to be here?’ the answer began as ‘its due any day.. in fact... ‘ (slight turn of the head) ‘ it may well be in one of these boxes behind me. We just took a delivery today.. ‘ OMG It could have been right there. MY dress. ARGH!! She even asked about booking me in a for a fitting in a couple of weeks. The seamstress is away until 3rd September but anytime after that, I will be going in and having final checks etc.
So excited!!
Just need to pay for h2b's ring, The church (including banns ) and the hotel. I am going to start chipping away at the Hotel and hope to have most of that paid before the wedding. Final payments to be made two weeks before the day. I think the total payments left to make are about £7.5k but I have some of the money there already.
Bought tickets for the hen night and booked the rooms. I also stupidly paid for h2b’s sisters room not thinking what I was doing when I booked it so she owes me £100 for that as well. Damn my fuzzy tired brain. LolProud to be Member of BSC #92Hoping to get debt free again :wall::heart2: working hard to make my daughters proud :heart2:0 -
Good news about the dress magic!!
I've just had a phone call from the seamstress I'm using ~ she asked if I wanted to go now lol!
Couldn't go this afternoon so I've arranged to go on Saturday morning. OH will have to take me and sit outside while she does her thing.
Then we're off to drop a few evening invites off, pick up some artificial rose trees I won on eBay, and go and pay the car and DJ off.
Had a lovely phone call from Maydot's daughter, who will be doing my make up and waxing for the day!
Hairdresser is all sorted and trial booked ~ and I think that's it!
Oh No, we have another meeting with the venue, that should be next week.
Only thing to do then will be to drop a copy in of a reading we want to the reg office so they can check it.
7 weeks and 1 day, can you believe it?! Arghhhhhhhhhhh!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
i really can't! (belive it that is.) i still have anothe r25 invites to make/send and may need to find more people to fill up our evening do
its not costing us any more in catering but it will make the room look bloody empty if we don't find anyone. its a pain cos our mates are scattered all over the country and cos we been together so long, people don't seem to want to make as much effort to share the day with us.saying that, there are SOME people who are traveling many miles and they are the ones we will always remember.
i have nearly finalised menu choices and we are suposed to be goig for a tasting soon. i changed my mind about the soup. was planning on soup but decided on salmon instead as it may not be that cold and even if it is, soup can be very filling. its a three course meal later in the day. between chicken and fish for main (but i am worried fish will stink the room out) then fresh fruit tart for pud. i am sure i saw on contract that coffee was included but the new brochure suggests its another course so i need to check what teh contract says.. I am not too fussed. if i have to pay, i will pay. the company has changed hands so i gues i kinda expected soem changes but if its in my contract, i will make sure i get what i agreed to.

Oh I hear ya magicgirl - the last of the invites is taking sooo long. And i know what you mean about some people not making any effort and then others making so much more than you ever imagined they would.
I've started getting rsvps back. Got my first "do you mind if my kid comes" rsvp... quite awkward really. I have a massive family and really couldn't have all my family's family there too (cousin's kid). I then had to email her back explaining myself and just ended up feeling really down. It annoyed me at first because there was no "I understand if not/just wanted to check" or anything at the end so it really put me on the spot; just more of an assumption. Surely if I'd meant for her kid to be invited then I would've invited her/put her name on the invitation...Not got any rsvps from that whole family so I'm imagining they'll all send their regrets... Ah well, everyone said you can't please everyone...

I have finally started receiving some rsvps! My OH says that he has never seen one before - they are apparently not the done thing! But then neither are sit down meals and invited only guests from what I can gather - it's a bit of a free for all! Not at my wedding it isn't - if they aren't on the list they don't get in!!!!
I am feeling useless at the moment - I haven't spent any money for over a week!!! Going for a meal with the parents on the 22nd as its OH's birthday - dreading it already! I have already decided though that if they don't like it it's tough - they don't have to come! Putting my foot down!0 -

I've had a lovely day today!
First I went to the dressmakers house where she pulled and pinned my dress, so I've left it with her to take the hem up. I wanted my dress to be hooked up at the back but she advised against it, as she said because it's duchess satin and quite heavy, it won't quite sit right or may pull because of the weight of it. Then she put her hand up the dress at the bottom at the back and there was a wrist hook thing, so she said she would change the ribbon for me to hot pink which will go with my flowers and shoes!
Then we went to pay off the balance of the wedding car so that's all sorted! The car will arrive here at 11am the morning of the wedding so I hope we're all ready by then!
Then we went had a good car journey to Burnley (hour and a half each way), to pick up these beauties!!
They look sooooo much better in the flesh, I'm over the moon with them and can't stop looking at them! They're 1 and a quarter metres tall and I paid £38 for both!!!
Me and OH kept saying "This time in 7 weeks, we'll be..." :rotfl:
We are both getting really excited now!! :j:j:jTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
