  • OOH its nice and fresh in here. Thanks for all your words of support and encouragement. I on on day 3 AF Yellow Monkey!! and day 2 of my 100 day challenge. I feel so much better, and like others I have noticed how much better I sleep. I am feeling really positive and with GreyPilgrim and Sad Angel on my side, I know I can do this.

    Good Luck to everyone today.:j

Seeing as how we're on a similar challenge I'm going to keep a careful eye on you IM...

(twiddles with his moustache and emits an evil laugh)

Hope that's not too much pressure. It helps me too.

    I don't really have a moustache.

I seem to have hit a bout of negativity at about the same time as everyone else. Went for a climb last night and really felt like going for a quick beer afterward because that's always been the routine. Didn't go, but felt a bit miffed and 'robbed' and stroppy. Maybe it's the weather. Maybe it's aliens or something.

And then I got a slow puncture in my front tyre about three miles from home, so I had to ride the rest of the way leaning as far back as I could. Almost doing a wheelie. I was justy too knackered to get off a and push.

feel better now though. Not stressed about another AF weekend at all.

Jo - if you decide that you are going to have a drink today/tonight because of the funeral, just decide that's what you're going to do - it's OK you know - otherwise you might set yourself up to fail and bring yourself down again.

MD, thanks for the comment :) unfortunately, for me, it's not OK as I have an enflamed (sp?) liver due to alcohol abuse and one days drinking leads to 2 days etc etc. I can not control alcohol, it controls me. Wished I was someone that could go from daily drinking to just weekend or social drinking with no worries, but alas no. x

Another thing, last night I'm sure I could 'feel' my liver, it wasn't pain as such but uncomfortable and I was aware that something's not right  the 2 previous nights of drinking obviously took it's toll after the abstinence. Funny thing though, on Tuesday I had 4 cans and had an appalling hangover day after, then on Weds I bought 4 but panicked immediately and had to go out so thought I'd buy a 5th but decided against it last minute, ended up only drinking 3 as I got into a film on the telly and had an even worse hangover  what a lightweight!! My liver is obviously suffering now after 16 years of abuse

Oh I'm really sorry to hear that Jo - sending you all kinds of willpower-type vibes and good wishes - I hadn't realised your situation. The main thing is, you're doing really well recognising you have a problem and getting help to sort it out - we're all here for you:D

  • Hi team, sorry I haven't been about much this week, but I have been ricocheting from one thing to the other trying to stay afloat.

I had a major wobble on Tuesday night, which annoyed me no end and left me feeling sicky and horrid for most of the night.

In general I am joining the feeling low, yuck and grumpy gang, despite it being Friday, which is unlike me - especially as there is Strictly to look forward to tonight. I am currently trying to work out where the horrid little gnome is that is sticking red hot pokers into my throat, and wondering if there is a legal sedative to give my kids so I can have at least one full nights sleep....

The DSs were generally beating each other to a pulp physically and verbally last night, so I did resort to a beer - not my usual tipple, but I only had one small bottle, so although I perhaps did not really NEED it, I am pleased with my restraint.

Guys, I hope those that are feeling down find an equilibrium, well done to those that are achieving their goals, and well done to those that have the guts to keep trying. Just remember that giving up your goals altogether is far easier than finding it hard and finding that extra strength within yourself to keep striving.

    Rant over.

    MOB

PS could you put me down for 9 AF please YM. THanks
