Fay and Jo, you seem to run in synch..(sp?) when you are good you are very very good and when you are bad you are 'a bit good and a bit naughty..'. Miss you both posting.. you are very infrequent at the moment....please come back and play...xx
Everyone is doing brilliantly in there own way.... good work team.. :T
nite nite.. T2GU. x
AWWWW ta - you know I was thinking similar (ish) things yesterday - so lovely of you to say something so nice (I know everyone is nice) dunno if Jo agrees - but we do seem to do the up and down bitI seem to be slowly getting back to where I was before and it does have to stop -
Family has a bit up and downs and I know those are triggers - I need to be more diligent and stop thinking one or two won't hurt
It seems for me (MP will know how much she's said this) I am not really very good at keeping drinking low level - even over a week or so I am back to drinking every day (not much but a glass or two) and last night it was almost a whole bottle.
Tonight OH here - he 'doesnt' drink so need to ditch the last of the wine in the bottle down the sink and leave purse at work
Off to get ready - chocolate (I hate chocolate - just needed the sugar) , coffee and paraceatamol for brekkie - pah this does need to stop
Nice hugs and smilies everyone - lovely to find you all againTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:

Lots of negativity.
I remember last month people were saying it is difficult to be AF because it was the school holidays, and now it is because schools have gone back that people are drinking!
That's alcoholism - it will constantly justify drinking.
It preys on self pity too. It's a depressive, that makes people depressed. I find more happiness in the posts of people who are AF than those who are drinking.
The thing is, alcoholics will never find a 'good' time to stop drinking (be it after holiday, when I get a new job, etc) as it is in their nature to drink.
Also, one doesn't have to volunteer to be the victim. While life may not be perfect, and can be very difficult, the way you react to it is your choice.
You can be the victim and bathe in self pity, or you can decide not to react that way. That choice is yours alone to make.
One thing I know is that drinking will not make you feel any better.
Good luck people. All of you can decide to do something about your drinking right now if you want to enough. Some people will regulate their drinking, others will be AF. For me, regulating my drinking was miserable and largely unsuccessful. I hated having to stop at 2 drinks say, thus AF works better for me
Some decide before they lose too much. Others decide when they have lost children, families, jobs, homes etc.
Good luck and god bless0 -
Morning (again
) Fay
Yes I feel we are very similar, quite scary, as I said to you last night, opposite ends of the isle and we seem to have the same moods
I've notched one more up please YM.
Worried about tonight as OH is out so I'm home alone, plus I've got to go to OH's aunts funeral this arvo. This is going to be frought (sp???) with tension. I think a few of you know I don't really 'get on' with the outlaws. OH is also very angry with 2 particular members of the family and so for this reason I have had to put my foot down and say that we won't go to the house before the service incase anything is said. We'll save it for after the service :eek:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Moooorrrninnnnggg!
Sorry to read that some of you lovely peeps are feeling down at the moment and/or are poorly. Hope things improve for you all and you feel better / get better soon.
MrsDee post about the change in season cheered me up no end. :T I'm not a fan of Summer, so its not hard for me to get excited about this time of year, there's already a nip in the air and the sun is shining - perfect!
Another AFD to add to my total, please YM - that makes 13/27.
Bells haven't been ringing for me very much over the last few days, which is a welcome relief.
I'm not missing the daily battle I have with myself in my head, which usually goes, "I really want a drink, no I don't I just think I do, yes I do want a drink, in fact I NEED a drink, but I shouldn't have one so I won't have one, ooohhh yeeeesssss just one drink it won't do any harm I'll only have one, no I won't just have one I'll end up drinking loads and feeling carp tomorrow, who cares I'll deal with it then, I'll just buy a small bottle of voddy, I've not had a drink for ages it'll be fine, noooooooooooo don't buy any you'll regret it........," blah blah blah, ad infinitum.
I'm sure I'll have an argument with myself at some point, but it's nice not to have it at the moment.
Anyway, have a super day everyone.
Good luck for those of us who are aiming for an AF weekend :A
Hugs,
Caz

Evening all,I will join in with the feeling grotty theme if I may? Got ongoing problems with my nose following a failed op in May, now got raging cold and nose feels HORRID:mad:
For me taking a drink is not an option and I am so glad I know that one.I really wish everyone who is struggling well.
I must confesss I have spent a small fortune this week on Honey as I read it is good for my symptoms, £12 for a small jar, will shortly be making Camomile tea with Honey (tiny bit caus of cost)and lemon.I know I wont sleep very well but it is not like the not sleeping feeling I used to get when drinking, that is vile.
Sleep tight everyone.:A

PAH.....Just done a long post and lost it.
Wise words from GC as usual...Thanks.
I have found since being AF I am less moody/miserable.I now try to work through my money/life problems instead of burying my head in the sand:o.This makes me feel so much more in control....
Which brings me to why i been absent....Was sorting debts and helping DD2 sort out a loan which her boyfriend took out with Welcome Finance:eek:last year.I found a thread on another forum (traitor:o).It was over 400 pages long and has taken me a week to read but I have learnt soooooooooo much.
Will now take me a week to catch up on here:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
16 for me now YM but will be 17 tonight.Lots of us off out tonight for drinks and curry...It is now just presumed I am a driver:rolleyes::rotfl:

Graeme, I think I am going to have to stick to the same approach as you - I need to be (and stay) AF, as just having a couple of drinks but no more makes me think, what's the point? It makes me feel miserable to stop and not have more.
Whereas not drinking at all (and feeling confident about having made that choice myself) means I feel in control and a whole lot happier.
It's a matter of making the choice.
thanks for your wise words on here - they really make me see drinking for what it really is.Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

Morning all!
AF again yesterday so that's 11/20 for me please YM
This is the second week in a row I've managed to stick to my "no drinking in the week" rule - and both weeks there was football on the telly and I still managed to stay AF:j!
Won't be AF at the weekend as I never plan to, but at least my savings have now tipped over the £50 mark, so I'm well chuffed with that.
To those that are struggling, don't beat yourselves up about it - there's nothing you can do about the past, just look to the future and decide what you can affect.
Jo - if you decide that you are going to have a drink today/tonight because of the funeral, just decide that's what you're going to do - it's OK you know - otherwise you might set yourself up to fail and bring yourself down again.
GC is so right - we all need to decide if we need to be AF, or whether we can cut down to a healthy level and be happy with that - for me, my problem was habitually drinking in the week - I've kicked that and allow myself to drink (in moderation) at weekends and that works for me as I feel happier, healthier and wealthier for it. But this might not work for everyone and GC is right - some need to stay AF and find their level that way.
However we get to achieving what we want to achieve, the road is not an easy one and some of us will end up in the ditch (metaphorically;)) sometimes - the important thing is that we know where the road is and don't go wondering off into the fields.....if you know what I mean?
Sorry, rant over - it's Friday and, whatever your weekend is bringing, may it make you happy:DAmount saved by cutting down on  since 24/08/2009....... :j£81.78:j0
