JO what do you reckon to a 'take it one day at a time' attempt at a full 31 in Dec - we 3-leggit to the finishing post and can *try* to keep each other from toppling over at the final hurdle?
I am driving on NY night and NY day - so that's sorted for me - many other sabbotaging plans afoot to keep myself either driving, partying but AFTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:

Whilst I am definately NOT a doctor (well not yet anyway and even then if I manage to be one, its only to treat flowers), therefore my advice is simply that of bletherings but its heart felt
Habbit (I so want to call you Hobbit by the way)
I would say that many of us find that the alcohol and the depressed bit seem to go hand in hand - NO alcohol = less or NO depression.
PS sorry if I sound a bit flippant - its december and I am excited (and AF :j)Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

:hello:
Can't believe we've got to the last month of the year!
habbit, don't start worrying about your Christmas parties. If your plan is not to drink at home then parties would still be allowed. Personally I don't drink on 'ordinary' nights at home but I do drink at weekends, holidays, if I'm out and about socially or if we have people round. I believe that if you try and take on too much (AF plus smoking) too soon you might find it hard to cope with and end up giving up (or rather not giving up either IYKWIM) It all rather depends on what you want to achieve.
wbf, thanks for your congratulations, I can't believe I've cut down by between a third and a half from what was a bottle (at least) a night for years and years. And kept it up for 11 months!!
Hope everyone is having a good day, much colder here but dry!!! (that's me and the weather)0 -

Well last night went okay, I did not drink at all yesterday, I think the sleeping was a bit off and on, like when you are half awake and half asleep, but I feel really good today.
I know it is only one day but I feel quite pleased with myself. I want to stop drinking indoors, and just drink couple of glasses of wine when out and about, but don't know if I'll be able to, so will have to try.
The Christmas season will make things a little difficult, I have 2 Xmas parties this weekend, but what I will do is not have the secret stash, how sad.
GP, your comment about the Horlicks in the bath really made me laugh, I hadn't realised how it sounded, thanks for that.
Anyway I best get on with some work, chat to you all laters.
Thanks again, I know I am in the right place.

Hi
Well done on last night.
I'm not a doctorI have also given up smoking in the past and the withdrawal symptoms you get when coming off both ciggarettes and alcohol felt very similar to me. So I think it is possible to reach for a drink when you are in fact craving a fag.
Alcohol is a depressant. Drinking less should make you less depressed. I agree I would not take anti depressants either.
Good Luck
ShaggyWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Me too! :j
It's a "proper" advent calendar with pictures behind the doors and not chocolate!
Anyway shiny new month and will join in properly and set a target
Marru, I would like to set a target of 10 for this month - not very high I know but it's a start.
take care
