Morning all,
Another 1 for me please YM
Have had to go docs this morning and managed to pluck up courage to tell him how much I drank....he didnt look too suprised when I told him I drank a couple of large glasses of wine a night plus a bottle or two of a weekend,he said its a very easy habit to get into and lots of people drink a lot of wine!....he put me down as 35 units a week but when I told him a few months ago it was nearer 60 he nearly fell off his chair! When he looked back at my records he had me down as 4 units a week from 2003... hmmm think I may have told him a small porky at that time...Ive never drank that little!
Anyway upshot is hes booked me in for a LFT for tomorrow and got to go back next week for results. Should be interesting... Im kinda hoping I have the liver of an ox and havent damaged myself at all

Hello all! :hello:
I've been lurking for a while, building up the courage to go for it and join in
I'm 41 and I've been drinking every day more or less since my teens, except in my 3 pregnancies. The booze has crept up and up in the last seven years since my lovely hubby died, but I'm not blaming it on that, if I'm honest I think I'd probably have ended up down this route anyway. But I must must stop NOW! Think it might have to be small steps but stopping is my goal. I have three fantastic daughters that I love so much and can't believe that I'm risking my health in this way even after what they went through losing their dad. But I have tried to stop/cut back several times in the last couple of years, and always end up back on that slippery slope.
But each time I tried, I've never tried with any help or support and I think that's where I'm going wrong. You guys are inspirations and I love the idea of having support and being able to help support others at the same time.
So here goes, wish me luck and keep going every one :T0 -

welcome Clarabell!
There are a number of newbies on here now! it's a tough journey on one's own, that's for sure. Only you can do it, but with help along the way I think we'll all get where we want to be. I have just joined too and got a huge amount of inspiration from the postings I've read and the people I've "met" - it will certainly help you. Well done for being brave and taking the first step of entering! Good luck...Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

Welcome CB13, You've definitely come to the right place for support.
I only joined this thread last week and two days in, hit a major blip and drank myself stupid for 5 days. But no-one ever makes you feel like you've done something bad on here, they just pick you up, dust you down and put you on the right road again.
I too look at my kids and wonder why I would deliberately shorten my life to leave them all behind but we all know only too well the power of the demon drink. Hopefully we can all help each other past the cravings and on to a happier healthier life.

This is very very true - occasional naughty benches but mainly a wagon fully of comfy seats and plenty of hands to help each other on.
And as someone who lost her dad at 57 from alcohol - its really something to think about - that's rung a few bells with me!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
