Anyway upshot is hes booked me in for a LFT for tomorrow and got to go back next week for results. Should be interesting... Im kinda hoping I have the liver of an ox and havent damaged myself at all
Stroppy xx
Hi Stroppy...well done on discussing with your GP....it is all too easy to brush over the units per week question....hmmm hands up who has told a few porkie pies here (my hand is up too:o:o)
I think that liver function test will help whatever the result...if it shows damage it will be a kick up the backside to cut down/stop ( as it has for me) If LFT is OK then you should be thankful that you are one of the lucky ones & aim to keep it that way.
Sadly liver degeneration is a silent illness/condition...the effects don`t become apparent until its too late. The good news is that the liver will regenerate if it has chance.....what a great incentive to cut back alcohol consumption.

So here goes, wish me luck and keep going every one :T
Hi CB13...welcome along....there is something quite inspiring about knowing that others are going through similar issues & that you are not on your own.
As MOS says this thread moves very quickly....LOL no time to drink with all this reading.!0 -

I only joined this thread last week and two days in, hit a major blip and drank myself stupid for 5 days. But no-one ever makes you feel like you've done something bad on here, they just pick you up, dust you down and put you on the right road again.

Hi MOS....blips will happen...accept & move on. We learn from our mistakes & ultimately that lesson is what will make us stronger. So remember one day at a time Honey!mumofseven wrote: »Hi everyone,
MrsDee, your comments about how the whites of your eyes are clearer really inspired me, I look in the mirror and my eyes look much older than my face (if that makes sense), I am definitely going for the 100 day challenge - 1 day complete, 99 to go!
I am sure you will have a ball, I am starting a Uni course next week at the ripe old age of 48 - so I will be an extra-mature student! Another reason to stay bright eyed and bushy tailed.
I am off the make a herbal tea now, I find that I do not crave wine so much later in the day if I drink them instead of 'normal tea', haven't quite worked out why?

Ooooh is this another `taker` for the 100 day challenge ??
Fantastic news that you are going to uni....wow you go girl!!!:j:j btw...no so much of the old!! at 48 you are just finding your feet!!...in our 40`s we have plenty of energy & are wise enough to know how to use it most effectively!
Thanks for the tip on herbal tea...I love liquorice tea so kettle`s on...here goes.

Whoah this thread moves quickly!
I just want to say welcome to CB13. You and I are the new girls on this thread and starting this journey together. I wonder where we will both be 'giving up/cutting down alcohol wise' this time next month. I have pledged 2 AF days in September and I plan to make the first one today while my enthusiasm is high. I figure that once I have one day under my belt I'll know I can do it again.
I have a few purchases to make before I go home to help me with my no alcohol evening.
Good luck to all of us today and I'll post again once I know how I'm doing.

Thank you all for such a lovely welcome! And thanks Fay for the hand holding offer tonight. Actually I've got my plan set for tonight - I'm going to visit a secondary school with my youngest and won't be home till 8:30 ish. I'll allow myself one drink only (that's all I have in the house anyway!) with no popping to the shops. Then AF tomorrow evening fingers crossed!
Got to rush now, but hope to catch up with this thread a bit more later

Hey, slow down guys...welcome new people, hello to old mates.
Theres a really positive vibe on here at the moment, everyones trying so hard.
In the 'what to drink instead of alcohol' corner, I had a brilliant bargain at the car boot last week- an old style soda stream with a spare gas cartridge and bottles for £2!!!! My DD1 has been having plain fizzy water, I've been having fizzy water with a splash of grapefruit juice and DS1 has his fiz with some ribena- hours of fun, might try and find a recipe for dandilion and burdock cordial and make some of that!!!
Good luck tonight everyone
