Good Morning. Feeling quite refreshed for a Monday morning. Count me in for the challenge.

  • Hello everyone, I'm back from a week in sunny Devon. Managed to stay AF, but it was really really hard. We shared a cottage with another family and my friend was drinking every evening. I had an overwhelming desire to help myself to her bottle of wine in the fridge, but I knew one glass wouldn't have been anywhere near enough. I'm proud to have resisted but it really scared me how strong the urge to drink was even after 5 weeks AF, I hope it gets less one day.
Still I'm pleased to report 31 days AF in October :j Thanks for scoring Fay, you did a great job!

Glasgowgirl put me down for 30 days please. I'll be over the moon if I can keep this up but I know it'll only take one slip-up for me to be back down that slope.

    Happy Monday everyone!!

Well done Clara - you've shown a lot of strength there. I finished the month at 30 AFD so well pleased. Nearly had a wobble on Saturday. Husband has been hugely supportive and not drunk for the past few weeks but decided to buy a bottle of wine for dinner on Saturday night (he did check with me first to see if I would be ok about that). I said, yes of course I dont mind if you want a glass or two. As soon as he opened it I thought, ooh I could have a glass of that! It would have been so easy, but I knew I wouldnt be able to stop at just one and would have then had to finish the bottle and then see what else there is in the house (whisky, anything alcoholic) to drink after that.
I dont know about others but I find I am thinking about alcohol a lot and what it does to me and to others (when I see others getting drunk). It's almost what I think about all the time at the moment! It's like I just have to give it room in my head to mull it all over right now and can barely think of anything else.
Anyway, a good start to November - 1AFD. Good luck to everyone else especially those who have had blips just recently. it doesnt mean you've lost your way - just keep your eye on today.

Hello everyone just popping in to say hi.

    Hi!

Jo I dreamt about you a couple of nights ago :D....you'd had a can of beer & you were monumentally p*st off with yourself, & I posted that I didn't see what the problem was & you should be pleased to have stopped at one as that was "normal" drinking & you were furious at me for saying so!!

Quite boring as dreams go ;)

    I ordered Living Sober yesterday......
  • :jWell done chaps for October - I want a big whoop whoop!!! :j

Right you've all to keep up the amazing good work this month - am so proud of those small changes and savings that have meant folks have reduced spending or saved some money or treated themselves a bit kinder this month. Even ONE AFD is awesome as it often leads to ANOTHER - baby steps!!!!! The final scores on the doors are an impressive:

    572 AFD's

and an amazing NOT SPENT ON ALCOHOL GO OFF AND TREAT YOURSELF.........

amazing!!! I have treated myself last month to a massage, some great shower smellies, a manicure and pedicure (those were done by myself!) a tennis racket (£25) and put some petrol in the car and took a day of my unhungovered weekend to go and see a friend of mine I havent seen in ages. All excellent "rewards" and being good to myself which I think is critical when you're going through this lifechanging journey.

    Totally off topic rant here.

After an Ebay sale, I transferred some cash from my paypal account to my bank account. Paypal account says the transaction completed on September 29th, but the money hasn't appeared in my account. Paypal say they will only initiate a trace for the funds if I fax them bank statements.

Firstly I don't want to be faxing personal transation history. Secondly, my account is paperless and I get charged £5 a pop for copy statements. Printable copies don't show my account number and sortcode, so paypal won't accept them. Neither will they accept a notarised letter from my bank saying that the funds haven't appeared. In fact paypal are being complete ****'s, and are only replying back with a bog-standard copy and pasted response to any queries I send them

So on friday (Oct 30th), I gave in, and asked my bank to send me a statement and accepted the £5 charge.

I've checked my on-line statement this morning, and the ****ing payment has actually gone into my bank. Argh.

    (deep breath.)
