  • Hello sorry not been about much

Waves to all - catch up in a bit most of weekend spent in ER at local hospital with OH yesterday night and again this mornig for xrays - he had my DD fall on his hand and we thought it was broken  only ligament damage though DD feels very silly and her and OH had a laugh about the ER report which stated 'an 11 year old girl stamped on his wrist':rotfl:she didnt' mind admitting to GBH but didn't like being called 11 when she's 13!!!!!:rotfl:

    Waves to all

    xx

At home nowt in the hoose to drink so put me down for another AFD - YM please

Figure I can clock up another 10 this month which I'd be at least happy with - sorry if been down in dumps - family stresses, bit sad news and generally being a grumpy grott bag who hid under a stone for a few days. YM please add another AFD to my total!

OH and I and 2 of our friends went out last night, to a pub with a live band as it was a 30th birthday "do". I was a fabulous driving angel and stayed totally alcohol free, which I'm chuffed about. AND we stayed up til 1am, how rock and roll, eh (well it is for me, I'm usually in bed at 10pm, ha ha)

However, I admit that on the whole, it all felt pretty dull and some parts of the evening really dragged. If it hadn't been for the live band who were very entertaining, I think I would have eaten my own head! Most people were very well oiled, leaping around, dancing badly, shouting out the songs, combined with incidents of "hilarious" forced removal of trousers which met with cheers and claps.

I was in a bubble, just me and my lime & lemonade, observing and feeling invisible in the wings, wondering when I could go home. I felt 50 years older than everyone else there last night. But I wasn't tempted to pick up a drink, in fact I found some of the behaviour in the pub really intense and almost threatening at times - the mauling, the shouting, the screaming, the running about, the knocking things over, the falling about.

Ironically, that was just the sort of behaviour I used to love - it IS hilarious when you're bladdered.

But my life can't be like that any more, despite how fun it used to be. The bads far outweigh the goods. I can't be part of that drinking gang any more, it's too damaging to me, my life and my loved ones.

Gosh, sorry for the long post, it was a long night last night and I've been thinking about it all day. So I thought I would write about it.

But at least I actually wnet to a pub on a Saturday and didn't succumb to a drink. Don't get me wrong, there were parts of the evening I enjoyed - just not very many......... :p

    Hugs,
    Caz

Great honest post and well done. Your journey on this thread is very interesting, because I don't think I can put myself in the pub situation, for the very reasons you state.
