Yes it's a fabulous quote isn't it - it really struck a chord with me. It looks well on your signature, I must say.
I'm delighted that quote has touched you too.

I started my 100 day thing as a bit of a personal test. A way to prove to myself that I could go 100 days without beer, a way to help lose some lard, and also as a way to appreciate a drink at the end of it, because we all know stuff tastes better after not having it for a while. 'Delayed Gratification', etc etc etc.
I spend the first couple of weeks teasing myself with how nice that first beer is going to taste.
But now I'm imagining waking up on day 101 with a stinking hangover and a tongue like a peep-show carpet. I'm not sure I really want to celebrate reaching my alcohol free target by getting drunk to be honest.
I'm not entirely sure I'm missing it.
I totally agree GP, I am on day 27/100 now and feeling on the whole so much better. I still seem prone to headaches more than normal, but today it is just after 10pm when I should just give in and go to bed!! Like you I have visualized christmas when my challenge is over, sharing a glass of something with my family on xmas day, but now that does'nt seem so important or even appealling!
For me the fog is beginning to clear and I think I see a goal so much more rewarding ahead. Something I have wanted for quite some time, my life, with all its highs and lows, with no curtain to hide behind. Life without the demon is not so scary, the highs are more exhilerating and the lows so much more tolerable, and the most important thing, I will be in controll.
So I think I have answered my question hav'nt I:rolleyes:

not sure what moderation is, i based it on comparing what i drank with my lifestyel......I noticed that the booze was doing its usual cameo appearance every day, a beer here, a beer there.
I ended up getting bored and told the wife i just didnt fancy a beer. The only problem is Xmas and being a lightweight, i still have a beer on a Sunday after i've been working on my day off. Its my treat (and i look forward to it!!) for working more to fund a couple of projects.
just wanted to share this.

Yay - another AF night for me - 2 out of 2:j. Last night drank cadbury's hot chocolate and fell asleep no trouble. Had a great nights sleep and when I opened my eyes this morning, and the fog of sleep lifted, I felt euphoric that I had got through night TWO:j Maybe I can get this monkey, called alcohol, off my back?
I weighed mysef this morning. I really am hoping that not drinking leads to some weight loss. I have started a couple of spreadsheets on dieting, drinking and money to keep me motivated.
Tons of Good Luck to you all today
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0
