Do I Drink Too Much?
Watch:
Next on:
Today, 21:00 on BBC Two (except Northern Ireland (Analogue), Wales (Analogue))
Synopsis
Alcohol is by far the most widely used drug - and a dangerous one at that. So why are so many of us drinking over the recommended limits?
Why does alcohol have such a powerful grip on us? How much of our relationship with this drug is written in our genes? What are the real dangers of our children drinking too young?
Thanks RA - I might be travelling but do want to see it. Anyone know if you can watch it again or something? xTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Morning everyone, welcome to any newbies.God luck with achieving your goals.
I am an Alcoholic and the only way I have stayed away from Alcohol is one day at a time, actually in the beginning I broke it down into even shorter periods than that.I kept myself busy and drank loads of tea!
The longer I was sober the less I thought about drinking.
Now a few years on the most important thing in my life is to stay away from the first drink, that is the drink that does the damage.
Glorious day here, have a good one everyone. Will pop in again later.:ASobriety delivers everything Alcohol promised.
Alcohol free since May 23rd 2003.

Good morning, I see that some of you are having a bit of a rocky time but don't give up, this thing we are doing is so worth it: healthwise, finance, relationships and just generally having a better life. I think we just have to read Icelandicmaiden and Greypilgrims' posts to know that.
I would like to report 1 more AF day please fay (I think that's 5 altogether for Oct).
A month ago I wouldn't have believed that I could be alcohol free for 5 out of 12 days. I drank every single night before.
Thank you all on this thread :T

I did that too yesterday evening! quite like going out for a jog/walk when it is getting dark, less likely that neighbours will spot me puffing along! Are you following a starter programme?I just went for a run (well, stumble!) I'm dead! I am so unfit
I've just recently started a walk/run thing which is working alright so far although am a bit achey this morning. I literally could not run/jog for one minute when I started!! Gradually built up from running for one minute sections interspersed with walking for 2 or 3 minutes to now running for 5 minutes a go, interspersed with walking for 2 minutes so am gradually getting there! Would dearly love to be able to run non-stop for half hour or more....
As with The Drink... one day at a time, I guess!!Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

I'm a member of a gym, which is so close to where I live that I have no excuse for not going more than I do
So I do go on & off but it's so beautiful here I went for a run in my local park. I did the on off thing, running for 2 minutes then walking for 1 so like you I'm looking to build it up.
Am pleased with myself for going tho

That's great. It's lovely running (well, puffing along in my case!) outside. I gave up my gym membership a while back as it took me longer to get there in the traffic than it did to spend time on the treadmill and often it was too busy (and noisy!) for my liking! Now I'm £37 a month better off and find myself actually run/jog a bit more often, as i can just put my shoes on and go outside and start! Wish I had discovered this years ago! And most of all I love the fact that it is free! hurrah!!Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

Morning all!
1 for me please Fay!
I have a box of wine still in the house (had some the weekend) but am trying to ignore it. Last night got on the exercise bike so that took my mind off it! Will save it for a couple of wekes time when OH and I have a few days off.
Hope all are ok?
Miss P
