After a particularly heavy month of applying for (and getting) credit cards including Tesco. RBS have turned down my application for current account.
Originally I get a letter advising that photocopies of bank statements and payslip are not acceptable. When I phoned to advise that I don't get originals, I was told to just write this on back of rejection letter and it shouldn't be a prob. Only other reason I can think of for rejection was that my NatWest account of 17 years has been almost empty for last few years. I even sent copies of statements showing savings of £90k.
No £100 for me.0 -
Can you appeal the decision? Try writing to the branch you applied to...maybe the manager can apply discretion? State that you "may" consider moving your savings over to RBS. if they ask you to, do, then move them back to someone who actually pays interest over the rate of inflation once you get your hundred squid.

For the small amount of effort involved to get £100, I guess I will be trying this. When it comes to incentive payments, every little helps.
Think my Barclays account can be happily transferred now that bonus has been paid. Waiting for other MSE experiences of paying in salary or just depositing an amount of money.0 -
I have just signed up - very easy it seems! So that's fantastic, just need to wait for the forms to arrive and I'll transfer my Natwest (dormant) bank account across for £100

RSB phoned my home today (when I was at work) replying to my confirmation query about the £100. They wouldn't tell my wife who they were (even though its a joint account!) but told her that the £100 was now paid?! Can't confirm this since we only receive the cards yesterday, have no pins and need to activate them by post (!) since there's no phone number to do this!
This is a bit of a surprise though since I've only (just) sent back the switching forms (asking that they give me a list of DDs). I guess my work will ask my permision before they switch my salary...
I'm still going to switch though because I want a fee free BT CC from them with a decent limit but maybe others could pull out before switching occurs??0 -
So... I live in Birmingham, but could open one of these accounts - including the one for people aged 16-21 (Although technically I'm only in that catagroy for another 5 months...) - and if I choose a scotland branch as my "local" - with no intention of ever visiting it - I will be eligable for the £100 as long as I transfer the one DD I have... I don't mind transferring my salarat if its for £100 though either, lol!Returning MoneySaver, now furiously saving for a house deposit...0

The above post made this thread catch my eye when visiting the main forum list....I have now applied and been accepted in principle.
I made the mistake of joining A&L recently....again there was a cash incentive to do so, but afterwards I realised there is no A&L branch in Leamington Spa!
So, hopefully I will get the £100 too, many thanks to MoneySavingSapphire :T0 -
What services one gets from ones own branch and not any old branch is unclear to me! My halifax branch is still in Bath even though I moved to Bristol 5 years ago and use my local branch. Even when I open new accounts with halifax I use the Bath one so I always get the same sort code...0
