The reply came straight back today, as shown below. Basically it doesn't matter where you live, just select a branch in Scotland! Or go to one in Scotland if that's easier (get a train ticket with your 100 quid!!!)
>>>>>
Thank you for your interest in our current accounts.
Although the £100 for switching to The Royal Bank of Scotland is only
available at Scottish branches, if you open your account at one of these
branches and switch your account from Lloyds TSB, then we would be pleased
to invite you to take advantage.
Below is a link to the offer pages on our website, which should hopefully
tell you all you need to know. Or you can find out more by calling 0808 100
0808 (textphone 0800 404 6160).
If you decide to call or visit one of our branches in Scotland, it is
important that you mention that you will be looking to open your account at
a Scottish branch, as this will let the adviser know you are eligible for
the offer. If you would prefer to open your new account online, then you
will be given the opportunity to choose your branch during the application
process.

Yours sincerely,
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

I applied online last week and picked a random branch in Edinburgh - wish I'd chosen somewhere a bit more wacky like the Outer Hebrides now!
The forms came through quite quickly ands its the standard account switching stuff.
They ask if the account you're switching from has DDs and standing orders and which method you want to use to transfer them - all without further reference to you, or they send you a list to check.
No response yet but I only sent it back recently0 -
Are you planning to switch your salary to RBS? If no, how are you planning to get around this? The T&C's on the link provided above state this is a condition.0
-
I'm planning on moving my salary, as this seems easier than arguing over T&Cs.
I don't see this as any great hardship - I'll leave my account with RBS until a better offer comes along.
Hopefully our payroll section won't get too cheesed off at me for changing banks all the time!0 -

I too think they require salary transfered but I'm hoping I can pick and choose which direct debits they switch. I'm sending back the forms today...0

It states it here http://www.rbsoffers.com/switch/switch-today/index.html, although not specifically stated under T&C heading. If anyone manages to open an account without transferring their salary, please can someone let me know?Spud wrote:I can't see where this is stated as a condition? As already posted the T&C are:

I couldn't find an online route for application for the basic (free) account. I phoned and they post you the stuff.
I'm waiting for the switching to happen and a phone call to confirm the £100...0 -
I hope they dont limit their online banking system to these hours.RichyRich wrote:Was just going to do this, but according to the site the application system is available between 6:30am and 9:45pm

I am wondering if i could get away with only transfering a standing order (set up to my husband) and i dont get paid a salary as such. I suppose i could borrow a couple of hundred quid from MrJudi for a month (and hopefully pay it back through the standing order).:DThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
