You do have to switch. About as much strings as you can get!
However, its a £100 and I'm doing it. I've not been told that it must be a Scottish branch...

    I disagree.

The money is credited within 28 days and there's no minimum account retention period so you can effectively close it down within a month and still bag the £100.

There's no monthly minimum account credit condition either.

There's nothing to stop you "switching" from a dormant account (eg not your main account). That's what I'm going to do.

The offer is only applicable to Scottish branches, as per the Ts & Cs.

Terms and conditions of £100 offer
This offer is only available in Scotland. To benefit from the cash incentive, you will need to have your new current account based at a branch in Scotland.

    Oh well.......:undecided

Makes no difference where your branch is, because you can do all your baking online or on the phone, or at any other RBS branch. The fact that your branch is north of the border shouldn't really matter, should it?

I've applied and whilst doing so confirmed the £100. Later I was asked which branch I wanted and was offer my local (Bristol) one... I agree I need to check that this hasn't disqualified me!!
Re switching, I was asked my net income frequency and amount and so they do expect this to be transfered. I agree that you need not provide details to switch all DD. And yes you only have to stay a month...

I have emailed the following question:

    >>>Hello. I have seen your offer of £100 to switch our bank account. We are with Lloyds Bank are we are interested in switching. Your T&C's say that this is only available in Scotland, and our branch would need to be in Scotland. Can we apply and benefit from the £100 promotion, we live in Suffolk, England. We are happy to use a branch in Scotland as we bank mostly online and travel to Edinburgh frequently.

    regards<<<

    I will advise any reply

    regards

If you read the Switch T&C's it says the following:

Terms and conditions of £100 offer
This offer is only available in Scotland. To benefit from the cash incentive, you will need to have your new current account based at a branch in Scotland.
Only available to new current account customers opening an Interest Paying Current Account, R21 Account, Royalties, Royalties Gold or Royalties Premier account between 1 May and 25 June 2006 who use it as a main account (as defined below).
In order to qualify as a main account, you must use the Royal Bank’s centralised Account Switching Service to transfer Direct Debits and Standing Orders from your existing account elsewhere.
We will pay £100 into your new account within 28 days of the switching process being completed – you will receive a letter confirming when the switching process is complete.
You will lose the right to benefit from the offer if we deem that your account has not been opened or used in accordance with the terms and conditions above.

So, it would appear that you must establish this as your main account, transferring your DD's & SO's which in effect means you need to pay in an amount to cover this if not your whole salary!!

So I'm not sure you would be able to qualify by switching a dormant current account.

But what if you've got a rich partner who pays all the bills, and you don't have any DDs or SOs?
