thriftlady - my oh knows no shame! and tbh after a few drinks he becomes even more outrageous, we're going out with friends on Friday so who knows what the night has in store (actually we're going to watch speedway racing, so hopefully it'll be too chilly for him to misbehave much :p). whilst typing this I've just had a text to say he's now mastered nessie

issn't your OH a chef ???? hope he washed his hands after _pale__pale_:rolleyes:;):rotfl::rotfl::D

Good lord where does he work? In an office on his own I hope:eek:

And, well, doesn't it hurt? You don't want him to break it do you now?

Goodness me this morning's daily is proving very entertaining:D

Noahspennilessmummy if you are a Nigel Slater fan then you will love his new book Tender. If you are at all keen on growing your own veg you will love it too.

Whilst not a proper gardening book he certainly inspires you to have a go by talking about his own growing experiences.

The book has chapters on different veg (not every single veg in the world). Each chapter has an intro, a bit about growing said veg, a bit about cooking it, a list of things that go well with the veg, some good varieties to grow and of course recipes.

I find the general cooking and what goes with what info useful because I like to do my own thing. The recipes look great too and I shall certainly be trying them.

It's inspired me to eat more veg as main courses instead of just boiled as an afterthought.

    Some recipes I fancy trying

A rich dish of sprouts and chees for a very cold night.
    Chickpea patties, beetroot tzatsiki
A dish of baked celery and its sauce
    Spinach, orange and feta
    Sausage and pumpkin mash
    parsnips baked with cheese
    Spiced courgette and carrot fritters
A salad of lettuce, peas and ham

Edit: it is now £13.50 on Amazon -very annoying because I paid £18.99. I've emailed my annoyance to Amazon customer services:mad:

I am so tempted to post on the hm burger thread a link to Mummysaver's OH and his hm burger:rotfl:
  • Wow. I am bushed. I haven't stopped all morning.
Done cleaning, de-cluttering/sorted out loads of toys/clothes, played with kids (just a little :o), picked up mess kids has made whilst I was cleaning , washed and dried two loads of washing (well one load is dry - just hung the other out), swept downstairs. Got to put BM on in a sec.

DS is now at nursery and DD is asleep so I have some FREE TIME :j:T

But what do I do? this hasn't happened in the middle of the day and I am lost. I am normally juggling lots of things at once. I feel like I should be doing something (although lunch washing up is calling).

<sticks fingers in ears> la la la la la la laaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I can't hear those little voices telling me to do more jobs ;)

Edited to say well done to FE on reaching 15 weeks and I hope your situation regarding redundancy gets resolved x

  • Hello just thought I would drop in and say hello having found this post. Have posted elsewhere in the getting to know you thread as well last night.

I have a feeling this site may become addictive lol (am on here to try to cure my addiction to farming on FB).

I work as a childminder but promise I am a good one and if on here it means all my little ones are asleep or I have time off (unexpected day off today and instead of doing my paperwork like I am supposed to be I am on here)

Although I did wonder if I had clicked on a different sites reading some of the posts in this thread lol (and yes I did go and check out the website Don't think I will forward to hubby though)

Is there any where on here where I might find a list of abbreviations (see stupid post last night where I realised OS stood for Old style after posting to ask what it meant)

OS wise today I made lunch from a diet firms tortillas that were not very nice but edible once I would have binned them and made something else today we ate them does this count. I have an ice cream machine that I bought recently but have used only once. So tonight am planning on making some of the low fat recipe I have for the freezer for when hubby comes home from work. Oh and I have bought 2 exercise books today ready for starting to sort out our finances and general lifes next week when off for the week.

Hubby will do this and enjoy it

Thriftlady I think Amazon might give you some back depending on when you ordered. I recall I preordered a Harry Potter once and the price was reduced so they refunded me some of what I had already paid.Good luck.

    Afternoon all.

Happy Birthday to Kaat Lady & Gingham Ribbon.

Haribo and Valk_scot, Mr LW can not only find his own pants in the morning AND put them in the laundry bin when he takes them off, he also does same for my underwear! Yay, I really have him properly house-trained!:D

Btw, Haribo hope you're feeling better today.

Dins tonight is gods know what. I'm fresh out of ideas, and I don't think I can cope with anything complicated as I've done my back in scrubbing the bath. Oh, the "cross" smiley is because of my stupid, stupid back, not because the bath needed scrubbing, btw. Mr LW would have done it tonight if asked, but bless him, he works SO hard, so I have to try to do some things myself at least. Ashamed to say I had to give in and take a dose of Oramorph.:(

Must remember to put the WM on tonight with the bath towels in. It's the last night I'll be able to do this for a bit - little canine is coming to stay tomorrow for four days, and it's not fair to have WM come on at silly o'clock when she's got to sleep in the kitchen.

:hello: to Pen-Pin Do I have it right, today you're at hossy? Hope it goes/went well.

Mummysaver don't think I'll be getting "that" book for Mr LW. Tbh, he'd say he's got better things to do with that part of his anatomy in any case.;):D

((((HUGS)))) to all who want need one today.

Sneaking sheepishly back after week of shopping with DD for special party, hospital visits to auntie and helping DH choose new windows and doors for auntie's bungalow for when she gets back home (we hope).

Made a huge shepherds pie s,using veggie mince, onions, carrots, tomatoes and a potato and cheese topping. Lasagne lasted two days and we finshed it last night.

DD(15) is still doing work experience and don't know what time she gets home so have it in the oven while I grab a shower and wash my hair in peace and quiet- bliss.

DH has gone to get the print out idea for a new kitchen while the sale is on so home alone for a change.

Where in Yorkshire are you as I heard about the 400 cases in Carlisle but not about flu in Yorkshire?

Hugs to everybody and Happy Birthday to Kaatlady! :bdaycake:

  • Afternoon all.
After dealing with them all morning I've just been reading about the penises!-I'd had enough of them for one day!LOL!
I have a poorly dd-temperature, cough that gets stuck IYKWIM and croupy sounding breathing so I may sit in the bathroom with her later with the hot water running and see if steaming helps. I had to work as we are ridiculously short staffed and my mum had to go somewhere so she went to Grandmas.
She (dd, and possibly Grandma) is now asleep on the settee making a right racket.
Dinner was sandwiches with home cooked gammon and tea is leftover shepherds pie, or chicken and mozzerella pasta bake(that may have to go in the freezer!) or the sausage casserole that I cooked yesterday as I wouldn't have time today. I think I may save the sausage cass for tomorrow as I don't think dd is going to be eating.
I'm doing extra hours at work tomorrow and friday though it may only be a couple tomorrow morning as I don't think dd will be going to school.
Was going to have a nsd today but had to go for calpol for her and fishermans friends for me so got her a couple of magazines too to cheer her up-though she hasnt seen them yet.
Got to go and sort out some rubbish for my mum to take as my binmen are on strike and the bin's full after them missing 2 collections. We are supposed to be taking recycling stuff to the tip but thats shut too!
Hugs to all that need them.
