Think the question says it all. I was very tempted by the Tesco (mis)offer, but did a bit of reading & there are suggestions there are much better out there.
I am more interested in quality than price (after years of poor sleep) so advice will be gratefully received.
Are the new latex ones on the market yet? Do they really solve the 'overheating' issues with memory foam? Is a mix of spring and foam best, or just foam??? Sooooo confused.
Thanks.
Beware as some mattresses that have latex in the name only actually have a very small amount in them.
I once slept (or tried to sleep) on a Layezee (another member of the Silentnight group) twin sprung/latex foam mattress. It was in the attic room of a hotel on the top of a hill in the middle of the Pennines, when we had a heavy snow storm. The mattress was so hot that I had to turn the heating off. It actually felt like it had three electric blankets on it. And to make matters worse I could feel the springs. It appears that it had a layer of reflex foam on top of the springs, then only a small amount of latex. I should add that I actually own a two sided pocket sprung/memory foam mattress, so It's not that I'm not used to foam.
The best option for support is either pocket sprung with memory foam or latex foam. This will give far better ventilation than a reflex foam base. If you do go for a mattress with springs and latex foam, then make sure it has about 2" depth of latex foam across the whole sleeping surface.0 -

Eek, are you some sort of mattress guru? and do you think this is a bad buy? It would be for our bed so we need something good (but not too dear).

You can get a far better quality open coil sprung/memory foam mattress, which will last many times longer, for far less than the price they are now charging.
Care to share, Tim?:D
Been waiting for you to show up & share your vast knowledge in all things mattress related!:)
Been following this thread with interest. V tempted by thew Tescos offer but already having two crappy Silentnight Miracoil mattresses & already knowing that they are the same company as Sealy, I wasn't too keen to fork out for yet another crappy mattress from them!0 -

I'm afraid I can't recommend anything as it could be seen as advertising. All I can say is stick with smaller independent manufacturers to get better quality for less money.0 -
