    Morning all.

Quick look in from me this morning, as I need to finish off worksheets, ect for our Italian themed day.

Not feeling too great today, and seem to be lacking in energy, so it was a struggle to get into the shower. Anyway, DDs are up, breakfast is out the way and it's just a matter of hurrying them along, as they always go at a snail's pace this early in the day :D

Have a good one all, and will catch up when we get back.

    Ciao :)

Sistercas - hope you feel much better soon. thankfully we are still swine flu free but with DS going to nursery not sure how long that will last for!

  • Morning Guys!

WM has been on and put in the TD with the balls and DW has been on and unloaded by DD before she left for school at 7.30. House is clean and tidy. OH did some ironing last night, so basket nearly emptied.

Chicken is in the oven for dinner and tomorrows dinner as OH got it reduced and is 1.9kg. Think we will have it with new potatoes and salad later, then either have with mash or roasties tomorrow and may have enough for a sarnie each.

Had an order from Ocado last night at 10pm (free delivery) and got all the ingredients for the Beef dish with the beef consomme, thyme, shallots etc from Economy Gastromony. Cost quite alot but will give us 3-4 meals for all 3 of us, so works to about £1.50 a head per meal, so not too bad. Managed to get a £10 off £75 spend and free delivery, so saved about 25% using these and buying the BOGOFs and deals. Got alot of meat/poultry, so in all, a good shop.

Nurse should be here any minute. Have 2 hospital visits this week and 3 next week....joys!

I have written a card out for my sick relative to get OH to send today and I have put in an audio book she will like. Hopefully it will distract from the pain for a few hrs.

Anyway, nurse has just pulled on to the drive, so I'd better go.

    HUgs to all.

    PP

What a shame about Patrick Swayze. I think I'll dig out Dirty Dancing this evening.

It's my Gran's 101st birthday today! Poor old Gran is a bit fed up with being alive tbh. She can't see much now or get about easily, but she keeps on going. She still managed to ring my Dad last week when he was poorly to see how he was. I guess you never stop worrying about your kids even when they're in their 70s! (he's fine now btw)

    Today...

Ooh excitement, Amazon sent me an email yesterday afternoon saying my copy of the new Nigel Slater book had been despatched. I've gone for first class delivery as I'm impatient so I shall be waiting in for it.

While I'm doing that I shall be baking a batch of seeded loaves and some fruit bread.

Got the usual washing and ironing to do. Not sure how dry it'll get today as it's a bit grey here too.

Breakfast -I gave the kids bacon sandwiches- lucky things and OJ. I had hm berry yogurt (home grown berries).

Lunchboxes -the boys have chunks of Spanish omelette, a mini pork pie, apples, chocolate fork biscuits, grapes and cherry toms (what did we do without those?) OH has the same.
Dd has a pot of cream cheese, some little breadsticks, a slice of ham rolled up and sliced, cucumber chunks cut like this, cherry toms, plums and chocolate biscuits.

Supper will be something wholesome and veggie- either brown rice with veg and cheese or baked green lentils and barley. Or something completely different inspired by new book:D

    Have a productive day everyone;)

    Morning all

I feel really sad about Patrick Swayze, he fought so hard and films like Dirty Dancing and Ghost have always been favourites. I think its making me feel scared for Tris if that makes sense.
welcome2.gifLaura hon - good to have you here
sistercas - I am really happy that my neighbour said yes but I didn't think she would mind. It's her back garden and they rather let it run riot, just strimming it about twice a year if that! Hope the girls are getting better hon
lou - Yes I feel really lucky and also it means when I look out of my bedroom window I will be able to see my veg grow and not just knee length grass. lol And we have promised them a share of anything we grow. (we have already passed on peppers and tomatoes as we have far too many to eat at present) Oh and you can put just about any berry you like in a muffin mix I have found!
Essex - so how gorgeous do you look today after your hair dresser visit yesterday?
Oh Truuuu - it sounds so wonderful and I am just the teensiest bit jealous (I should be typing this in green really ..:rotfl:) Very glad you had a great time.
Bargainbird - Being the curious type I googled home made dog biscuits and there are more sites and recipes than you can shake a stick at!! I was flabbergasted!
Redruby - Sorry the viewings were no good hon.
N9eav - good luck with all that painting.
My Os-iness today will be to spend time in the garden picking tomatoes and clearing more tubs ready for winter. A lovely lady on the forums is sending me some spare lavender plugplants she over ordered so I can get them in tubs ready for next spring when they can move to the newly sorted out bank. My inlaws are due over today so I am hoping they will use some of my new rockery stones at the base of the bank to stop land slides!
Hoping this will be the 8th day of sunshine so we can all spend a good few hours outside. I do have my Approved foods order arriving today too which is always exciting. I have started a Tescos order too on MySupermarket and for the things I buy, Tescos is still cheaper than Sainsbugs or Asda or Waitrose. However, I seem to remember I might have a voucher for £10 off Sainsburys so may swap my basket over if I can find it in my emails somewhere.
All up to date with the washing. It's been so nice we hang it out and a couple of hours later it is dry so nothing has backed up and the TD is not being used which is good.
Warm gentle smileyhug.giffor anyone who wants one today!

:(A very sad day for me today - it would have been my friend Lesley's 59th birthday and it is also the anniversary of the death of her son who died on her birthday 8 years ago so it is not a good day for her family.
I am collecting some flowers to take on my way to work.

Not much OSiness for me today due to an 11 hour shift. I've cleaned through and done some washing. I've got some HM butternut squash soup to take to work for lunch and a HM cheese and potato pie for tea.

Hope you all have a good day x

edited to say Thriftlady those lunch boxes sound really tasty!

    Morning all.

Gas came back on later in the afternoon yesterday, so was able to get on.

I made a start on the fridge. Found buttermilk and some just gone off milk, so did 2 lots of 350g scones. Spread too much so didn't look that brilliant. I don't think I like the oven setting on the microcombi really. Need to experiment.

Later on was talking to neighbour on the front. Took him out half dozen scones, as there isn't really space in the freezer for less than perfect scones. He then asked me if I'd like some blackberries. Accepted gratefully of course. I was very good and sorted the last of our apples out of the fridge and did the kids steweed fruit with custard for tea.

Mentioned the Trex yesterday, but it's not done till October. Will make the whole lot into pastry, bake a couple of things then freeze the rest.

Chana is now cooked and ready to make spicy dal dish.

Made some carrot and coriander soup out of languishing carrots. Saved some out and some is ready to freeze. My poor freezer! The trouble is, if you take something out and make something with it, it takes more room when it goes back!

Not clear yet about my timetable at work, hoping to get temporary arrangements today. Got to go to the appliance department at the hospital for arm brace. Hoping dd will take me. We have to go and test a local restaurant for when our twin town group comes.

Suppose I'd better get on. Have a good day all.

  • Good morning chums ,
grey, damp and drizzly here in North Kent looks like our 'barbeque summer' has been and gone I must have been asleep :)
Well the chap from the window company did a great job on replacing my two small windows and a nice bright new door on my porch and it looks great ,trouble is it looks as though I will be like N9eav and have to get the paint brushes out as the walls now look really grotty.Luckily its only a small area so I will have a look and see whats in my cupboard under the stairs I am sure I have some white emulsion in there.I took down a mirror that was hanging there as it now doesn't look right as it has a light brown surround and I think I may have a go at giving the surround a coat of light blue and see if it looks better, I may then see if I can get a light blue mat for in the porch and hey presto my porch will look almost nautical when I've done (hopefully) that will be my autumn project I think.I like to have something on the go for days when my joints are bad and I can't walk too far so a little light painting might just be the job.I have a conservatory at the back of my house that I can put the mirror on to paint and leave to dry in.Fingers crossed I will get it all done by at least half term.(I'm not the most enthusiastic of painters either).

lillibet dripping: I am old enough to remember the 'forces sweetheart' singing it the first time round when I was a little girl, gee that makes me sound like Methuselah lol
sistercas: just read online about Patrick Swayze boy could that guy dance and looked so gorgeous as well. His poor wife she must be devastated as they were a real love match.God rest him he fought a good fight didn't he.Bl**dy cancer it gets all the good ones, he was far too young.
PP: you are so organised I'm still in my PJs although I have to say I have given the kitchen a quick whip round.youngest dd is coming for coffee and sympathy this morning ,got turned down for another job, bless her.She haunts the job ads trying to get extra work, and she has five children as well !!
She had to give up her previous one as the hours were just too much, she was doing 8.30-6.30 five days a week and my son-in-law and I were doing the childcare between us(mainly school runs) Still shes got another interview tomorrow at Sittingbourne so fingers crossed.
Right well enough blethering time to get a wriggle on,that porch won't paint itself.I am going to have a rummage in my 'glory hole' a.k.a the cupboard under the stairs to see if I can find some paint and rollers .have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
    Cheers JackieO xx
