Re-read my previous post which was suggesting you run a program called routerstats not asking for the stats which I've already commented on.

The WiFi connection is completely independent from the ADSL connection - you could pull the phone wire out and the WiFi connection would still be OK.

It's a great pity that you are with AOL as that rules out all chance of getting any useful assistance from your ISP should you need to contact them.

I see. I have install router stats and it is running now I think, nothing is happening on the graph just yet.

About AOL - yeah they are crap, everytime I phone them for for technical help I get the same thing said to me which I know isn't the problem so I'm not in a rush to phone them. My stepdad pays the bill so I have to get him to talk to them too its such a pain. Hopefully can move to another ISP soon.
  • I think you could be on to something Ill post a graph pic in a min

As you can see from this very nicely annotated graph :p this is what is happening.

Why is this happening? The pcs/routers etc are in exactly the same setup as they have always been and its always worked normally before.
  • It seems to happen every 10 minutes but not exactly on the dot (excluding that first part of the graph)
  • help? this is strange

Well from that I would say it is some massive but short duration source of noise in your house or very nearby. I really don't know what it is but you can maybe reduce the chances of it screwing up your connection if there are no ring wires present. I posted a link early on concering that and asked exactly how your router is connected back to the master socket which you didn't answer.

Meanwhile if you have a medium wave radio tune it between stations and leave it on - if this is something sparking nearby you should hear a really big crackle at the same time as your connection drops. If you do that confirms the problem is local electrical noise but unfortunately doesn't pinpoint it. The next step would be moving the radio around to see if you can work out where you get the biggest noise. It could be something as simple as a fridge or boiler turning on and off.
  • Why would this happen now ? It's been fine before this. What is a medium wave radio. I'll read the link on ring wires.

This is the graph recently. Seems to happen every 10 mins.

  • I am going to do that ringwires thing on all sockets tommorow while stepdad is at work. Hope there is no risk of electrocution lol. I need to find out which is the master socket aswell.

It's happening now either because you have some electrical item newly turned on or something in your home has developed a fault. Have you maybe just turned your central heating back on? Bought any new electrical kit? That noise level really is excessive - if you still have analogue TV it may even show up on that on the picture or sound.

During the period where the noise margin was very high and the dips didn't cause it to drop out it would have been synced much lower. That would have been because there was some continuing noise while the router resynced so it only managed the lower speed. Even that huge margin wasn't enough to hold sync continually though.
