Nope didnt reset that could have been the last time i lost connection
i'm pretty sure its not the wireless since this happened even when i was using homeplugs, but I thought the problem was the homeplugs and I use a bit of brute force which resulted in me braking one of them lol so I had to install wireless adapter, sorry i cant use full stops because that key means something else on shortkeys0 -
im going to go and check the connections0

check phones too make sure they are all ok
and filters too.0 -
Sorry I altered my post - initially I thought it was wireless until I looked more carefully at those up times which only show the adsl as having dropped.
I'm off to bed now as I have to get up early - hopefully somebody else can pick this up.0 -
also i forgot to say that this problem has been on and off was better for a few days in between0

Who is your broadband provider? It's possible that it is a fault at the exchange, but that is probably unlikely. To me it sounds like you might have a dodgy filter.
I would remove all equipment plugged into the telephone sockets, except the router and telephone at that single socket. If the connection still drops, then change the filter with another one.
If that doesn't work, you can eliminate filter problems.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
At the time you ran the stats there was no evidence of a problem other than the fact that the link had only been running for 30 minutes.
An ADSL link consists of two parts - the electrical connection with the exchange and the PPP logical connection that runs on it. If the electrical connection goes down it takes the PPP connection down with it but it is quite possible for the PPP connection to fail while the electrical connection remains up (ie the router stays synced but the connection doesn't work). The problem I have here is that I don't know whether that 30 mins uptime refers to the whole connection or just the PPP link.
There is no point trying to hunt down a physical connection error if it is only the PPP link dropping which would be a problem with the ISP - maybe a DHCP lease is expiring and not getting renewed, maybe they are doing some work and just dropping users, maybe there is some other problem. Whatever it is we'll never know as we won't see any error messages about it.
There is a program which you can run called routerstats which will graph the noise margin and sync rate. If that stays reasonably high then this is a PPP problem and therefore something you need to complain to the ISP about. If the margin falls and it loses sync it is your wiring/filter setup to blame. Seeing if there is a fast drop in noise margin or a gradual decline leading to loss of sync will give some sort of clue too.

Its with AOL
Ive posted stats above
Edit: When the internet does disconnect only for around 30 seconds before auto reconnecting the wireless signal bar is still green and is still showing that it is recieveing signal. Could this mean anything or is it just too slow to react?
I have vista and when I have an internet connection there is a icon in the bottom right of 2 computer monitors with a world in front of them and when the connection goes the world just disappears then afterwards re appears0
