I want to book a consultation with optimax but you have to pay a £30 deposit. I know you get it back if you're unsuitable, but what if I am suitable but choose to go with a different company? Will I get it back?
Just spoke to Ultralase and they charge £50 deposit, returned on the same theory above....
yes you get the despoit back with both of them..reason they do this is to stop people making appointments and not turning up.0 -
Well been about 6 weeks since ive had Lasek and things are going well, very slowly but ive reached 20/20, but im just waiting for things to sharpen up in the distance.
The good news is my sharpness has come back to what it was with close up viewing, its just the sharpness from long distance id love too have. You really do miss it when you have been wearing glasses for 20 years !
Im told it can take a good 2-3 months if not upto 6 months before they sharpen up....
Even if it didnt its a blessing to not wear specs and my eye sight is more then enough !0 -
Went to Optimax Peterborough for a consult today - very impressed, not the hard sell and crappy inexperienced youths (a la Specsavers) I expected. Am paying with Tesco points as no money to spend otherwise and can only afford LASEK not LASIK, sadly. Booked for 17 December. Any words of encouragement along lines of 'just as good results and not at all painful' appreciated!! Really gutted I can't do LASIK but can't dwell on it. Too much debt and my Tesco points will devalue unless I act quick...'In penguins and pearls we'll drink and we'll dance, 'til the end of our days, 'cause it ain't left to chance that we win...'0

Theres a few options here, you can easily get £500 quid off vouchers loads of people even myself have them, see them on ebay for a penny even. But it would have been better if you signed up to optimax website once registered there bound to send down a half price promo letter. I belive even searching money saving expert forum has some info on optimax special offers.
I got a half price letter in the post every 3-6 months and when I saw 1.8k for Lasik I went for it, but could only do Lasek since my corneas were too thin but they price matched it anyhow since they knew I only came in for the half price offer otherwise no way im paying out 3.6k+ at full price!
Generaly I was under the impression Lasek is more expensive then the Lasik at optimax...
For an operation that takes 5-6 minutes to they really are milking in the cash from the cow !
The pain is exaggerated imo, if you do have flap complications then perhaps but most will not. I was in pain for the 1st 2-3 hrs after the op so just decided to stay calm and relaxed with sunglasses on with eyes shut and just let my eyes tear drop like nothing for 2-3hrs.... after that time passes things are ok just mild bouts of pain.0 -
The problem is Optimax won't let you use ANY discount offers AT ALL with Tesco vouchers :-( (I have been on their mailing list for ages and have had various offers.) My only option to make up the extra £1k would be to try to buy Tesco points off eBay for approx. £500 and we really don't have spare cash right now. Thank you so much for your reply though.
PS Just realised I didn't add prices: £1790 LASEK and £2790 LASIK - both a lot more with wavefront, obviously...'In penguins and pearls we'll drink and we'll dance, 'til the end of our days, 'cause it ain't left to chance that we win...'0 -
Its been over 2 years since my Eye operation with Optical Express. Recently they sent me a free voucher for a free eye test and discount voucher off glasses (not that i need them). Anyway decided its best to have my eye tests with them as they have all my history/records etc....Optician found that i had blocked pores in my eyes and recommended some method to clean them and a regular check up. All this i was told is part of my after care for life and no charge. they did not even ask me to hand over my free eye test voucher!0

vipvilla - for me it was £2790 LASIK without wf and over £3k (can't remember exact figure but a lot) with.'In penguins and pearls we'll drink and we'll dance, 'til the end of our days, 'cause it ain't left to chance that we win...'0

quoted £1250 for Lasek wavefront with Optimax, not a high prescription btw. Does this seem about right? Booked in with doc Madhusudhan. Don't wear contacts nor glasses (though of course I should do), my only concern is the having to wear 'bandage contact lens', coward i know :-(0

going with optical express this week but found that at my original consultation with them i mentionedi had a 250 voucher which they tookoff price ( i didint but remember getting one through post at somepoint) i then said id go home think about it - they phoned next day and i just said cost to much she brought it down again then i said still to much! Asked if i got it done asap in a cancellation appt could she bring down price which she did all in all i got it down to 1500 from 2400 for lasek wavefront so happy enough! as it turned out couldnt go ahead as was breastfeeding at time but they held price and now claim eyes need lasik so after we argument am getting that for same price so they can do it!! be firm0

Pretty good just paid 1.8k about 7 weeks ago...
The bandage contacts are there to protect you but depending on the treatment type they come off after 1 day if u get lasik or 3-4 days if u get lasek...
there not so bad but yeah your eyes can breath and relax when there out and its such a relief, if u have had contacts in then its pretty much the same apparantly, the drop soloutions will protect and make your eyes less sore/red and tender and able to handle the contact bandages anyhow so your always protected:)0
