Laser Eye Surgery Cost Cutting Tips

Hello,
I had my surgery with Optical Express 3 months ago. I found them fine. I wanted somewhere near to me, just in case and these were the only ones who actually operated in Sheffield. It has proved valuable, as I am still using eye drops and they are free from the store, so they are easy to just nip into.
Are all 3 close together, as I wouldnt recommend driving after having the drops in at consulation - they are to dilate your pupils, so they let more light it. I found it hard to see outside for a bit. I am not sure if there is a limit as to how many of these drops you are allowed in one day?!?
They are all within walking distance from each other. Sunglasses will be on hand tho its never sunny in newcastle :rotfl:0 -
I had treatment in Mumbai, India 4 and a half years ago. It was wavefront and cost £700. The clinic was state of the art and everything was way above my expectations. My eye sight was about -4 in one eye and -5 in the other. I would highly recommend the clinic.
We combined the treatment with a holiday in Goa. I was disappointed with Goa but the eye surgery was the best thing I ever did. It was the Sharoff hospital0 -
Well had mine done 3 weeks ago at Optimax and getting there !
Went to optimax finchley since they were close to me and easy for my sis to give me lifts there, bus/train routes are good also since 113 bus stop is right outside the bus stop:)
Anyhow went for lasik /next day vision hopefully 20/20 treatment and they said my eyes wouldnt be able to handle it so I then thought please do not tell me its lasek treatment the one thats more painful and takes upto 3-6 months to heal and sure enough they said just that !
Anyhow operation went smooth was done within 10-15 mins and back home, I should have taken sleeping tabs and just slept but while I was nackered the naggin pain and streaming tears from my eyes prevented me from falling asleep this continued for 3-4hrs....
the Pains a more aching/throbbin pain that comes and goes every few seconds and while it can be a little painful not so bad.... just take the paracetomal/pain killers !
Anyhow after few hours its ok the pain resides, but I just sat in my pitch black room for 2-3 days mainly listening too the radio and wondering what was going on outside and what was on the telly which is always fun, I kept my eyes closed pretty much peroid lol
4 days after the contact lense bandages came out and what a relief ! looked at eye chart could make out the 3rd line from bottom on left, and right eye couldnt even make out one letter on the chart lol !
It was very blurry for almost 2 weeks but after the 2nd week both are quite focused and on the eye chart my left can see 2 line from bottom "just about" and similar with right eye !
im only 3 weeks in and am told im healing fast (must be my diet of alsorted nuts and tuna/sardine/ fruit + veg) I started for past 3 months preping !
My focus is still not sharp in both eyes but im told im 20/20 already just gotta wait for it too fully heal and I can expect the sharpness/detail to come back but thats a good 4-8 weeks away, thats my main concern at this point.....
If I had to use a reference id say im 580p, when things are sharper a bit proberly 720p, and obviously id like too have 1080p:)0 -

lol yup I just thought ive come this far and might as well go for it regardless...
eyes were too thin and there was a higher risk of complication, the optician then said I could have a word with the surgeon and he told me exact same thing after checking my eyes in detail....
Lasek it was to be:p0 -

Let's hope I dont need Lasek too. From what I've read I think I'll need wavefront or something similar0 -
Random Question!
I once saw an eyesight simulator on one of the Laser Companies websites. It was a picture of a bedside alarm clock and you could slide the scroll bar to match your prescription, so that you could demonstrate to people what your natural vision is actually like.
I cant find this anymore, Does anybody have a link?

Hi Magic
Sorry for slow reply - been away for few days
With your prescription as it is you will always be able to read things at about 30cm. Do you not struggle at the moment with intermediate tasks such as the vdu?
I would imagine the computer is blurred through your distance glasses and also with your glasses off!?
If you had laser eye surgery given you age is 52 you may have a little intermediate vision but it would slowly get worse over the next few years as a consequence of you getting older - sorry but thats life!
If you had laser eye surgery however there is a chance that a little bit of your prescription may return (for example -0.50) which would actually help your intermediate vision. May be you could consider partial monovision where they leave one eye focussed for computer rather than full monovision which would give you full reading vision correction.
Let me know if this helps or any other questions

Yup when you have your consultation its a mind numbing experience, I was shown 3-4 different powerpoint fancy slides, but you definatly want wavefront lasik or wavefront lasek done, its basicly tailored to your shape of your eyes..... ie less chance of anything going wrong or I assume less chance of over correction or less for that matter, its like fixing only the bits of your eyes and not the whole eye.
Anyhow hopefully you get Lasik so your good the next day and wont have too have the misery of waiting 2-3 months !0 -
I cant have surgery, my eyes arent the correct shape. doh!0
