  • Hi again mking007. Was this offer price for all Optimax branches.? Sorry for all questions but I was just about to call Ultralase tomorrow and organise treatment with them. I havent actually had a consultation with Optimax but may do so as they seem to have good reviews.

Hi Ive been considering optimax since there close by to me being in finchley area.

But I have ready on various forums and other places that other companies are better, Ive also read that Optical Express are far more reliable, they can do treatments to make sure there operations are more customized to yourself so you do not get any haze/halo effects.

I have heard quite a few people that have gone Optimax have got haze/halo as side effects where as people that went to Optical express didn't get any bad effects.

Has anyone that's had it done by Optimax can confirm this?

i to am hoping to go to optimax (finchley rd branch) for a consaltation within the next two weeks. i seem to have read good reviews but will reserve judgement until i've had my consultation, i don't like the idea of dry eyes as wearing contacts for a prolonged period has this effect on me. any more views on optimax treatment? and how there referral scheme works?

I had both eyes done january this year by Optimax in Birmingham
I'd been looking at getting them done for years i would recommend it to anyone having worn contact lenses for 20 years it its been the best thing i've ever done. It is very painfull and uncomfortable for about 4 hours after but thats worth putting up with for the end result. What i will say is i went for the top level treatment intial price qouted was £3500 i mentioned vouchers etc even though i had non, also mentioned a friend had just had it done at the same surgery and it cost them £2000 why was mine dearer they did'nt even ask who it was just dropped the price straight down to £2000 even iffered it on interest free for 2 years. So i would say do not buy vouchers from ebay etc as you probally do not need them, seems looking through previous posts £2000 seems the norm

    Hey sometime

If you are worried about haloes/glare/night vision problems then you should have wavefront (also called custom) laser eye surgery. All the clinics provide this treatment but it generally costs more.

When you go for a laser eye surgery they will generally measure the amount of night vision problems you currently have. If the measurements reveal that you already have a high degree of night aberrations then they will recommend wavefront. Also if you have large pupils then you will be advised to have wavefront.

    Hi
I have been quoted £1295 per eye at Optical express for Lasik Wavefront surgery. My prescription in -3 in one eye and -3.5 in the other. I'm short sighted and have been since I was 14. I have a £300 voucher towards treatment which helps a bit. I'm still considering it....

I am older than many people thinking about surgery, I'm 52 so will need glasses for reading. Has anyone else my age had laser eye surgery please.

    :)

I'll be having wavefront then :)

and is the link your post a referral? if so please move it to the refferal board and delete from your post
  • Hi Ben

If you have pupils over 6mm in dark conditions - (pupil size increases at night) then you are at a far higher risk of night vision problems. This is because the laser generally just treats the central area of your cornea but your peripheral untreated cornea is exposed at night causing glare etc. Wavefront helps to keep this night problems to a minimum and can in some cases result in improved night vision after surgery than you had before! I removed that link.

I look like i've been smoking weed 24/7 never mind just having big pupils at night lol. handy info to know
  • Ha Ha Ben - Cant imagine the weed would help either! Maybe dont mention that during your consultation!

Good luck with the treatment if you go ahead. The whole thing only takes about 15 minutes so blink and you miss it!
