What would you guys say is the best ratio between cost and also getting the laser surgery done properly and safely? I had it done last year through Optical express and love it, but it cost me almost £3k in total. My girlfriend wants it done now but is currently out of a job, so the cheaper the better really - but without risking her eyes.

    Any advice please? :(

If you were blind, but could pay to see again how much would you pay?

Is your eyesight really something to be stinghy towards?

Maybe your girlfriend should wait until she has a job before going ahead with it.

Many thanks for the replies - obviously she's not looking at something dodgy and super cheap, but anything decent and below the £3,150 would be a nice bonus! In fact because she has a job she doesn't want to get it done just yet, but in the long run it'd make sense, because any money she'd spend on glasses or contacts between then (at the moment she has neither and just suffers bad eyesight, through stubbornness more than anything!) would be saved.

Optimax sounds good thanks, either the half price deals or using some Tesco vouchers which we will hopefully have quite a lot of between us.

Just booked a consul at Optimax Finchley for next week. Been pondering about it for a good few years. They have a supposedly half price offer on at the moment. my eyes are about -3 each. I am hoping it will be 2.5k max! But I don't really have much of an idea of prices

You're probably looking at more like £1800 at half price for LASIK + Waverfront.

Do they still offer 1/2 price deals if you are paying with Tesco Vouchers ??

    Thanks in advance

NOPE!! Or at least my experience was met with a very emphatic 'no' on the grounds that Russell Ambrose agreed this deal with Tesco and can't seem to extricate himself from it even though he makes a loss on vouchers. I actually believe this as knowing how Tesco wield their power they probably approached him saying it would bring in more custom in times when it was much slower.

  • Does anyone have a £500 Optimax voucher they can send me please?

There was a cancellation so I have moved my consul for this Fri.

The half price deal is only on the intralase Lasik wavefront treatment.

Not sure if I want to go with that or the Lasik wavefront on its own. Which might work out cheaper with the £500 knocked off. I guess it depends what they advise at the consul. But it would be good to keep my options open

    Thanks in advance

  • hi, been reading this forum with much interest as i am about to go for a consultation at optical express in bournemouth. i was just wondering if anyone had had the advanced customvue wavefront treatment and if it was worth the extra cost compared to the regular lasik/lasek op. also, cost wise would people recommend them or trying to get a half-price offer at Optimax? id really appreciate some help as im going in a bit blind (excuse the pun) at the moment!
