Laser Eye Surgery Cost Cutting Tips

  • Hey all,

I wondered if anyone has recently had laser eye surgery?

I just did my consultation with Optimax and as I'm sure is the case with everyone, they recommended Lasic Intralase Wavefront.

They initially quoted the current deal of £2395 for both eyes, including the Intralase and Wavefront.

I then saw the £500 referal discount on a leaflet while talking, and got her down to £2080.

However, online i've seen loads of people stating they got it for £1800 or there abouts ...

Has anyone recently been lasered, and spent less than i've been quoted?

Please do share your tips on getting them down!

ALSO, with the £500 discount, I could get Lasik + Wavefront (but no intralase) for just £1200! This is nearly half the price if I don't go wiht Intralase. Is the general concensus that Intralase IS worth it though, and that I should just pay it? I didn't quite trust the "sales women" who basically said I need the full most expensive proceedure!

There used to be a link if you googled for half price at Optimax, but if you hang on they'll certainly offer it to you at half price. You can't combine a £500 referral with that price though. I had mine done with Tesco vouchers in December. If you need a referral I'm more than happy to oblige if you PM me, but in all honesty you'd be better off getting the half price and anyone that tells you otherwise is on the make for their referral money! I'd rather be honest with you!

  • Just spoke to Optical Express and they said, with a £300 referal voucher I'm hoping to get from a kind chap here, that they will beat the Optimax price by £200, making their full works just £1835.00 or there abouts.

Providing I can get a £300 referal voucher, they seem like the cheapest option. I also hear good things about thir level of professionality - which is another bonus.

Best of luck with it! Well done on your negotiation!

  • I know that Accuvision don't charge for consultations, even for a no show. They also have the most advanced Wavelight technology so are really one step ahead the rest of the field - great on both fronts. I would recommend them.
  • I would love to hear exactly how Accuvison are "ahead of the field". I was told today that Optical Express are "ahead of the game" with Wavefront technology only used at the leading eye hospital in the country, and by NO other competitor. They also said it's the equipment / standard that Nasa require.

I am starting to wonder if there is any truth in ANY laser eye surgery company :)
  • I got a price I was happy with and had thup hae surgery yesterday.
Ended having LASEK because of my prescription.
Was very sore afterwards but had a check up today and I'm recovering well, though driving not recommended until contact lense bandages are removed on Tues.

  • Hello
I've got a few vouchers from optical express, 150 discount of the surgery. Contact me if you need one, it'd be a shame to waste them...
